INTERVIEW WITH DR. JAMES DOBSON
DID DONALD TRUMP RECENTLY ACCEPT CHRIST?
JUNE 29 UPDATE . . .
EXCLUSIVE: Q&A With Pastor Michael Anthony On Trump, Christianity, and Religious Freedom, The Daily Wire, released moments ago.
JUNE 27 UPDATE . . .
CNN LIVE: Michael was interviewed about his interview with Dr. James Dobson that went viral. Continue reading this blog for more commentary, and to listen to the actual audio interview that got the conversation started.
CNN LIVE INTERVIEW WITH MICHAEL ANTHONY ON WHETHER OR NOT HE BELIEVES DONALD TRUMPRECENTLY GAVE HIS LIFE TO CHRIST – AND WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN IN THE UNITED STATES AT THIS KEY TIME IN HISTORY.
June 25 update (Original post below) . . .
It’s been a whirlwind day, with the news in this blog getting picked up by The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Politico, Charisma, The Blaze and literally dozens of other news outlets. The story was even a trending topic on Facebook – and sparked thousands of tweets. (You can read mine at @CourageMatters. Catch me on Facebook at Facebook.com/CourageMatters). Additionally, this blog post was viewed over 50,000 times today alone as a result of the report I provided within. Clearly, people are interested in this story. But what is the REAL story?
I’m thrilled about how widely the story is being spread – not because I care about clicks on this blog, but because I care about the message of this blog. And that message is this: Regardless of what somebody thinks about Donald Trump and whether he did or didn’t surrender his life to Christ, salvation is real and available to all. What excites me isn’t the political discussion, but the spiritual one — all across the country, people are talking about how Jesus saves. And Christians, I hope, are praying and repenting – as I urge at the end of this piece – not just for Trump but also for our nation. My prayer is that we would, as a church, embrace repentance and welcome revival to our land. Because it is urgently needed. (This is a key reason why the upcoming October 30 – November 6 National Week of Repentance is so vital, and why that is so heavily on my heart. Visit RevivalMatters.com to participate and spread the word).
If you have a moment, help keep the conversation going and share this blog – or one of the stories linked to above. Let’s flood the web and social media with the truth that all of us — from presidential candidates to ourselves – need not only to accept Jesus, but to worship and follow Him. If, after all the debate, we miss this important truth, we will have missed THE REAL STORY. That, would be tragic.
And, no, this is not an endorsement of Donald Trump or any political candidate. It is to bring the Bible to bear on a relevant topic for everyone, so we can all THINK, PRAY and live for Christ in a day when doing so is very much out of fashion . . .
HERE IS THE ORIGINAL JUNE 24 POST AND INTERVIEW THAT’S GONE VIRAL . . .
I WAS AT TUESDAY’S HISTORIC “CONVERSATION WITH DONALD TRUMP AND BEN CARSON” at the Marriott Marquis on Broadway. About 1,000 evangelical leaders attended this historic event. While there, I met Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family and Family Talk. I asked Dr. Dobson his views on the meeting and he shared some things that will not only blow your mind, but should also have you on your knees, praying for Mr. Trump and our country with a fresh perspective. Click here or below to listen to this “you heard it here first” interview.
MY THOUGHTS, WITH A CHALLENGE TO ALL CHRISTIANS, ARE BELOW . . .
Dr. James Dobson claims that Donald Trump recently gave his life to Jesus Christ as his Savior. If true, this could be a game-changer. in how you pray for Mr. Trump and the United States.
I was also interviewed along by the American Family Association, here. My comments come at the end. Here it is:
And, Cortney O’Brien from Townhall.com interviewed me on my thoughts. You can read the interview here.
DONALD TRUMP, with Gov. Mike Huckabee serving as moderator for the historic “Conversation with Donald Trump and Dr. Ben Carson” on June 21, 2016 in New York, NY.
Here are my thoughts – whether Trump did or did not accept Christ – and what YOU should consider and do no matter what:
I remember when I accepted Christ, it took me two years to begin to understand what God did in me. Two years. My walk with Christ was more akin to a crock pot than a microwave. It is for many Christians. And then, even when we think we are walking with Christ we have blindsides. I think anyone who doesn’t realize this doesn’t really understand the depth of our sinfulness.
In regard to Trump, I think – if he really accepted Christ – that it is important to understand 1 Timothy 1:12-16:
“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.”
Saul wasn’t at all like Christ when he began his journey. He spent 14 years in Arabia, so that God could get a hold of him before he began ministering as “Paul.” See Galatians 1. Often, we expect instantaneous change – complete and absolute change – in a person. When, in reality, God’s work is often gradual. It is often dramatic in some areas, and subtle in others. If Trump really gave his life to Christ, it is already changing – in ways that neither you nor I can see, but God sees. And, people closest to him, will see. It can take a long time to see a dramatic change in someone who has so dramatically missed it. But, in the end, haven’t we all, if we are really honest?
Check out Acts 9:26-27:
“When he came to Jerusalem, he was trying to associate with the disciples; but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took hold of him and brought him to the apostles and described to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had talked to him, and how at Damascus he had spoken out boldly in the name of Jesus.”
If God gets a hold of Trump, it won’t be the first time people didn’t believe it. It won’t be the first time that a terrible person who lived completely against Christ, came to know him. Saul, who became Paul, is a great example. I’m not saying Trump is a real believer. I don’t know. But if he is, there will eventually be fruit. In the meantime, it’s not surprising to see people be skeptical. They were with Saul/Paul until they could begin to see his change in behavior. If you are a Christian, pray for Trump. See 1 Timothy 2:1-5. It’s not a suggestion. It’s a command to do so for all who really know Christ. In fact, anyone who doesn’t believe they weren’t a terrible person, a sinner, before accepting Christ, doesn’t really understand the Gospel. One sin is all it takes to make one a sinner, in need of forgiveness.
Pray for Trump, whether he really accepted Christ or not. He needs it. Let’s not make excuses for him, but let’s also not belittle what God can do through a man.
America needs a bath. This is why the October 30 – November 6 National Week of Repentance is so vital – and YOU need to participate. Every single person on American soil should. True change begins in God’s House, not the White House. participate by signing up now at revivalmatters.com.
GULLIBLE OR BIBLICAL?
Is one gullible to believe God could save and transform Donald Trump? Maybe so. But, then again, God has done so in the past. Maybe, just maybe, believing it’s possible is to believe more in God than in man after all. This is what it means to pray for change, see it happen, and then believe that God could do what man cannot. This is what biblical faith looks like, after all.
Wouldn’t it be classically ironic (and hypocritical) of all of us who say Trump needs to change, if we who prayed for that change wound up not believing when/if God actually answered our prayers?
To those who keep screaming about “tolerance,” and rail against hatred – are you intolerant and hateful? Do you love your enemy, as Jesus commanded? Or, are you selective in who you love, editing the commands of Jesus? Do you love only progressives? Only conservatives? Jesus commands you to love everyone – especially your enemies – if you say you “follow” Him. We are to love our enemies and pray for them.
And when you pray for your enemy do you pray with bitterness and hatred or true concern, compassion and brokenness? The whole idea of praying for an enemy is to pray without enmity. If you pray with enmity for an enemy, you miss the whole point.
Pray for Trump. Regardless of where he stands with God, it’s not stupid to pray for him and believe God can transform him. It’s actually exactly what biblical praying and faith looks like. if you ridicule this practice you don’t understand the Bible in the most basic of ways, and are, in the final analysis, a very poor Christ “follower.”

I just can’t vote for this man. I may be wrong ,but I don’t trust him. If give his life to Christ great. The bible teaching many would come in my name. I will not vote for a bigot.
I completely understand your sentiments and hesitancy. Only time will tell. If he really did accept Christ, then the Holy Spirit will address his bigotry. Let’s pray that God gets a hold of him, deeply. The same would be appropriate to pray for Hillary and for all in Congress, along with our court justices. Prayer changes things and people, and we need a lot of that at this particular time. So honored that you took the time to express yourself, and did so diplomatically.
The majority of Britain just exited the EU because of illegal immigration, legal immigrants taking their jobs and using up their resources and the destruction caused by "refugees". Same things Trump has been talking about. It is common sense not bigotry.
Thank you for sharing!
May I ask, can you feel comfortable voting for Evil, liberal, crooked Hillary? No way would I not vote for Trump!
Darlin’….you should perhaps read the Koran! Lest you term some great, great, great patriot a bigot, when instead it’s you who is ignorant of the Islam "ideology’s" objective to slaughter anyone not in accord with their beliefs. Who is the bigot? Trump or Islam?
Except he is not a bigot. He simply wants to stop people from using our country for their own means when so many Americans are struggling. He wants our country and our border to actually mean something, right now it doesn’t. He personally has done many good deeds that he never speaks of and most people would be unaware of it others did not speak of it How many people do you know would send his plane across country to California to pick up a dying three-year-old to fly to NY to the specialist who felt could help him, but no airline would take him because of all the equipment he required to keep alive. Mr Trump did it only because he read the story of the families plight. Then there was the widow he read about in the paper, losing the family farm and the banks would not renegotiate the loan. Trump called the bank and they would not budge and they were going to kick the old lady to the curb – he then payed off her loan and sent her the deed to her property – no fanfare – she kept her home. Another time his limo broke down in NJ and an old couple stopped to help and gave him a ride where he was trying to go. A few days later they found out they were the owners of a new car. And then Jerry Fallwell told Sean Hannity of many, many more stories people had told Fallwell – that his friend Mr. Trump had never told anyone. Did you know that when Obama would not help Sargent Tamoressi [sp] who was stuck in the Mexican prison it was Donald Trump who contacted his mother to see if he could help her in any way and when the Sgt. was finally released gave him a check for $25,000 to help him get back on his feet.
So don’t like him for a lot of reasons, but as a Christian I find his good deeds are very Christian-like and if people actually listened to him or spoke to him you would find a very good and kind man… very different from Hillary Clinton who does not have a kind bone in her body.
Then I guess you won’t be voting. Donald Trump is not your enemy. A vote for anyone other than Trump is putting a nail in you and your families coffin. Wake up!!! Donald is the only one that can help our country. If I could vote 10 times it would all be for Donald Trump. Maybe you should leave with the country with the other ignorant people.
Thank you for sharing! #prayfortrump http://www.RevivalMatters.com
Then go vote for Hillary… I hear she is awesome.
Thank you for sharing.
I understand your hesitancy. I am hesitant as well. That is why I am really praying for discernment and looking at what the candidate believes about the U.S. Constitution and the law of the land. What kinds of judges will he/she appoint? Etc. Vital at this key time. Thank you for sharing!
I recently saw an interview where college students were given several statements (some about bigotry statements that were made) and asked "who" said them, Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. They were all shocked to find out that what they had attributed to Mr Trump were actually said by Hillary Clinton!
I have several friends who have vocalized that they would not vote for Trump, no matter what. I’m grateful to have the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior, because I sure needed one…I STILL do! But before throwing the gauntlet down and declaring your absolutes about Donald Trump’s life, shouldn’t we all remember who we were before Christ? And let’s pray! We may be quick to make a decision in our flesh, but perhaps we can humbly go before the Lord and ask for His wisdom and discernment. He’s told us he will give it to us! As a parent, how much does it please us when we know our children are facing major decisions and are so thrilled when they ask us for guidance? I’m thinking the Lord feels pretty much that same way. Let’s commit to seeking him, spending more time with Him, before we make our decision on this.
Thank you.
Excellent words, Paige! So well said. IF he really accepted Christ – that it is important to understand 1 Timothy 1:12-16:
"I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. He needs to name his VP (Allen West or someone WISE and solid on the Constitution.) Also GIVE us a firm I will select/appoint these 6-7 very strong pro-life Christians to the Supreme Court. Give us a firm promise not just suggest those eleven names.
Matt 15:8-9
Thank you for sharing!
Julianna, God is in control, pray and vote. God’s ways are not our ways. Let God lead Trump and us pray that Trump hears and obeys.
Yes, I am praying for Trump and our nation. Also for everyone in our government, as called for in the Bible. These are perilous times, we all must earnestly pray.
Right on! You are referring to 1 Timothy 2:1-6. Great passage for Christians to take to heart at this key time. Right on!
Please Just Shoot me in the Face please
Not going to do that. 🙂 Look UP. Trust God and fear not. No matter what the case, God knows the heart and we all need to lean on HIM.
For me to believe that Trump has given his life to Christ, I will have to hear it from the candidate himself. Why is he not saying so? Who is this person who led Trump to Christ? At what point in the campaign did this occur, after Trump said he does not need to ask forgiveness of God? After the "two" Corinthians statement at Liberty University’s campaign stump? And, I still will not vote for him for president; a Christian does not necessarily make a good world leader; history proves that — even recent history. God can change the hearts of kings; God places the people in power whom He wants to place in power. I will continue to pray for our country, but I believe with all my heart, mind and soul that a vote for Trump is not a vote for God, who is sovereign above all.
Let’s pray we do hear from him, and that we see a change. In the meantime pray hard for him and for America. We need it. #prayfortrump
I am also a born again, Holy Spirit filled Christian, and am praying for America and all the candidates running for office. However, I can’t say in all honesty that any of the ones running are the best for the office, BUT, I feel that a no vote for Trump is a vote for Hillary, and I for one will not vote for one who should be experienced in such things as government and lives as though above the laws made by said government.
As for Mr. Trump accepting JESUS as his savior, I do believe that the Word says we should confess JESUS publicly and not be ashamed to do so. If it is true Trump accepted JESUS as LORD and SAVIOR, WONDERFUL, GREAT, GOOD, that my friends or not will be the cherry on the cake. BLESSINGS to all!!
I have been praying for God to give us another chance and to please send someone to bring our Nation to a new beginning. This I have prayed for since 2010 when I realized just what was happening to our country. I truly believe that Mr. Trump is God’s answer to my prayers, and I keep praying every night that Mr. Trump will be our President and that he will work with God to make our Country just as great as it was before. GOD BLESS AMERICA
Right on! Keep praying. America needs a good, long bath, and it all begins with repentance. http://www.RevivalMatters.com. The National Week of Repentance is coming, and we all need to jump in. #prayfortrump @revivalmatters
Your judging here. If he gave his life to Christ, then he asked for forgiveness. That’s credible to me. He is not coming in His name. I believe he was chosen by God to bring this country back to God and this latest development is pointing in that direction. Have a spirit of Love for this man. God has forgiven him, but you can’t? Trust in the Lord. He will make things turn out right.
We all need to take a good, long look at 1 Timothy 1:12-16. Right now would be a good time. #prayfortrump regardless of where he stands. He needs it, and so does America.
I wasn’t sure about Trump so my wife and I asked the Holy Spirit if Trump would be good for america, we recieved a definite yes and also he would be good for all mankind. I am a born again christian, the Holy Spirit has guided us through out our lives.
Thank you for commenting! #prayfortrump.
Trump is not a bigot. His record completely contradicts that notion fabricated by a press who hates a candidate who rejects the establishment leash. He is the modern day King Ahasuerus and the voters are Esther. Lets celebrate Purim together. God has used MANY men jus like Trump to advance His cause.
Thank you for commenting! If God can use a donkey (Numbers 22) perhaps he can use an elephant. #prayfortrump.
Dobson, you are sooooo full of it! I am a Christian for over 30 years and I remember when your being a Christian was suspect even though you were a minister. I find you a man who wants to have his 15 minutes of fame, and because you are well known, you think you know a person’s heart and I beg to differ with you. Donald Trump is more Christian than any Christian I know, he doesn’t rack up his money like most ministers do that has a church. He has done so many wonderful things for ordinary people in many ways but mostly financial without telling anybody or bragging about it. You won’t find that in any Christian church that I have been to, and I’ve been to many. I really find your pios attitude toward Trump like "he’s a baby Christian" is rediculous and judgmental. Have you and the Christian ministers of America done anything to fight against the religious Muslims taking over America? No – none of you! Shame on you and all the Christian ministers. Donald Trump is the only one to come to the rescue of America and you guys need to measure up to him, not the other way around!!
I find the following Christian’s comments and attitude toward Trump ignorant and distasteful. If you don’t vote for Trump, Darlene, then you will be voting for Hillary, a criminal. I will pray for you and He answers my prayers in spite of what you all may think. I even say Hell when the occasion calls for it!
Thank you for sharing! Let’s #prayfortrump.
Wow, Arbie, I’m replying just so you know that your comment was posted, as you complained that they weren’t. Lucky for you it is a free country and your mad rantings dumping on James Dobson didn’t get censored.
Praise God!! My prayers have been answered.. I pray he is genuine and not mocking God only for votes. Only time will tell..
Let’s pray it is genuine. #prayfortrump. I don’t know if it is true – but IF it is, he needs prayer. If it isn’t, he needs prayer.
prayfortrump
I have not been a Trump supporter. My vote for him would be the classic "vote against Hillary". If he has truly accepted Christ, then it is indeed a game changer. For those against him, remember that God, not humanity, places people in power. Christian or not, he is the best choice of those we have to choose from to return this nation to its Christian roots.
Beautiful! May God bless Donald Trump and keep him safe for always and forever and ever!!!
I haven’t voted for an establishment Presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan’s second term. With the arrival of electronic rigged voting machines I even quit voting third party. If the GOP and Trump’s other voluminous enemies don’t assassinate him first I intend to register and vote for Trump in spite of hackable machines, hoping his margin of victory will be too much to hack away.
Darlene Tune, that verse isnt referring to people accepting Christ. That verse is talking about false teaching, claiming to be someone their not.
Very interesting, indeed! I’m reminded of Proverb 21:1 "The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He will." We see so dimly what is taking place in the Kingdom. Praying for all leaders and potential leaders!
Could you give examples of his "bigotry"?
Some call him a bigot others a foul mouthed blankety blank. I guess that makes him like the rest of us. Can you vote for prostitute, a thief, a felon, a philanderer, a bigot, a racist, a greedy banker, a crooked lawyer. Yes, have voted for all those and more; pot smokers, alcoholics, etc.. Sinners all, just like me. Something miraculous needs to take place for this election to make any sense, maybe this is where it begins.
Yes, we need to pray indeed. We are a country of too many superficial Christians who look at a person, rather than God, to lead and direct them. We need to seek God’s face, and really study the Bible for ourselves. Let His Word enlighten us, and His Spirit be our guide. Not any person, leader or government. The Holy Spirit is the One who unites us. I’m really tired of Christian leaders using their public status to influence the political decision making process of week minded individuals. That is not your job. Your job is to lead people to Christ. Everything you do should lead back to Christ. I think God will give this country a leader according to the hearts of the people. So if you want the leader to change, pray that God will change the hearts of the people, pray that more hearts will long after His.
Superbly well said!
Well Darlene and Michael,I see without sin Stonecasting hasn’t gone out of style, And with such good aim even with that huge telephone pole in your eye. So few of you perfect ones left. God looks on the heart. Trump does NOT HAVE TO PROVE ANYTHING TO YOU! Now I know why Jesus called the Pharisees a bunch of snakes. Reading right here, BINGO there it is. In humble ‘Christian’ comments. Have a problem with this. Why don’t you just sachet into the Throne Room and set The Father straight, since you are so much more righteous and all knowing than He is. Hey Michael when are you going to address YOUR bigotry? Looks like it won’t be for a long time since you’re blind to it, and oh so Holy! And Darlene you ‘may be wrong?’ Guess what honey YOU ARE. You’re judgemental and full of anger and hate. You both need to do some Serious repenting.
I believe this announcement on behalf of Dr Dobson is very inappropriate, to put this on Facebook is not right…this is a personal….relationship, with God and Donald Trump…if we want to see God move in his life…we would guard his heart…..with grace…let us not speak for God r others…let the Holy Spirit take hold…
I am very excited to hear that Mr. Trump has accepted Christ. It has been obvious that he has been hovering around Christian principals, because he has stood up for the church, and said the murdering of our Christian brothers and sisters in Muslim countries was horrific. He has repeatedly said we need to get rid of political correctness, and his goals have been exactly what we have all been praying for in this country. I believe God has been using him, and has even brought him to this place of commitment so that He can use him in a bigger way. It is sad when I see Christians who refuse to vote for him because of a few off beat comments, when our other candidate has such a huge track record of dishonesty and corruption. We all say things incorrectly and things we don’t mean to say when we’re in the heat of a moment. He has been under tremendous pressure over the past few months, and has been thrust into the national spotlight. I am not surprised that he said some things that have offended folks. That’s what happens when you’re not ‘politically correct’. But I’d rather follow a candidate who isn’t giving me a ton of political smooth talk and rhetoric and trips over his words, but has his heart in the right place when it comes to wanting the best for our country. People need to quit judging Donald- he’s not a politician- he’s one of us- and every one of us would be making the same mistakes he has made if we were in the same situation. It’s time we start listening to what he really wants to do for our country, and quit worrying about his off color comments. God can clean up the language, but he needs a heart that’s willing to do the right things, and I believe Mr. Trump is trying to do that.
I’ve been praying for this to happen. I believe it to be true. When I was a younger Christian I meet Donald on the street’s of NYC and witnessed to him for about 20 minutes. He listened politely and asked me if I believe in what I was telling him. He liked my enthusiasm & zeal. I shared with him about What would it profit you if you gain the whole world and loss your soul. I also shared with him about the 2nd. coming of the LORD. Then I finished with one word. President. He told me he had no political endeavors in this area. He first asked me President of what? I did not answer him as I was young in the LORD. God see’s those things that be not as though they were. This happened about 40 years ago, I was 19 years old at the time. I am now 63 years old. I was born in NYC and drive a Yellow Cab. This is true. I remember it as if it were yesterday. The secret things belong unto the LORD. He does share His secrets with us as He wills. This is a true statement. God knows my heart for He was surely there that day. Yours in Christ Jesus, MRB All the Glory goes unto my Lord & Savior. Continue to pray for Donald and Minister to him in the Love of the LORD.
He is a good man. He has a good heart. He has accepted Christ and God has his hand on this man. Donald Trump will protect Christianity. Hillary has no interest in pleasing God. Hillary diabolically opposes what God stands for. She believes in gay marriage and aborting babies even full term babies (an abomination to God) Donald Trump will be the best president America has ever had. Donald Trump will make our country great again. The land of America belongs to God, not obama. America will never recover if Hillary Clinton is elected president~ Pray for Donald Trump. He has so many mature Pastors and Christians at his right hand and he wants that. God bless this man. We will support him both spiritually and financially~
Hope someone reads this. Have been born again 40+ years, and when I heard what Dr. Dobson said and did I was grieved. He had no business announcing this to the world. It was up to Donald Trump in his own timing to share out of his experience. Dr. Dobson broke confidence in doing this. He has put unnecessary pressure upon Trump, that may hurt him a great deal. It was not right! It’s hard to describe why this was wrong. It was almost like gossip and taking it upon himself to announce this; taking glory that belongs to the Lord alone. The hypocrisy! To protect Trump you should delete this video. And Dobson needs to keep his mouth quiet. Let Donald Trump share when he’s ready. Proverbs 11:13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
Praise The Lord…o/….Aleluya o/…..God bless Donald Trump in Jesus Holy Name!!! Amen and Amen!!! Shalom ❤❤❤
I don’t see bigotry, I see someone who speaks up and questions instead of being concerned about what everyone thinks. I respect that.
If you can feel better voting for Hilary I would guess you are deaf, dumb, and blind and the reason you see bigotry.
I hear a lot of conservatives say they will not vote for Trump. So are they going to vote for a woman that constantly lies and received millions of dollars from women-hating Arab countries? I can’t wrap my head around this at all!
He is not my first choice, but hardly a bigot. He promotes women to high positions, he does not want ILLEGAL immigration, but welcomes legal immigration. Where is the bigotry?
Everyone who comes to Christ is a baby. That is why it is called being born again. We are forgiven of our sins and have a special fellowship with Jesus. It takes time to grow up. Babies drink milk at first, then you add solid food a little st a time. We need to pray for each other. You are still are tempted by the enemy of your soul, but God helps you stay strong in Him if you ask Him. We need to pray for God’s Will for Trump and each of us to. The Holy Spirit can give you the Power you need to overcome. He changed my life 42 yes ago and I have never been the same!
Jesus called wicked folks many names . He called out the Money changers, the Pharisees, the Lawyers and the Scribes (Media) . Jesus and God could be called bigoted back then in that they only chose Israel. Today , they only choose Christians . If Trump favors Christians over others, even then the word "bigoted" would be used against him. "Bigoted" is a PC word. Complaining about non-Christian immigrants even if they cause trouble is called "bigoted".
Under Communism/Socialism , we are expected to accept everyone , and to be like everyone else. To dress as everyone else. To be equal to everyone else in every way. In Communism/Progressism there are no men and women , all are the same . All use the same bathrooms. Anything else is considered bigoted.
Democrats already consider ALL Republicans to be bigoted, racists , and homophobes . Many Democrats consider Republicans and the NRA to be their enemies . This includes Hillary Clinton . She plainly said so at a debate.
Must have happened in the last two weeks because when I asked him who Jesus is he gave a totally unacceptable answer (see interview transcript at calthomas.com and click on "columns" Sounds suspicious.
If Donald Trump makes Jesus Lord of his life, he will come out with it publicly. Romans 1:16; Romans 10:9,10
This is not only amazing it is answer to all praying. Amen. Keep praying. Our Father in heaven will answer our cry.
Yes, Darlene you are wrong
I knew you patriots wouldn’t post my comments. Great expression of Christianity!
We are posting them. 🙂 Our blog is a place where all can post, provided they don’t use vulgarity.
We need to start praying for the next president NOW, no matter who that turns out to be…
Right on! http://www.RevivalMatters.com @revivalmatters
Praying !
Great!
We all know how Saul became Paul. Struck blind on the road to Damascus and spoken to directly by Christ. It was when one he had persecuted was sent by God to lay hands on him that his sight was restored and he repented of his sins. I think comparing Trump to Paul is far fetched and wishful hoping. Where is the remorse and confession of sin? I am praying for my country. I cannot and will not vote for man who has harmed so many and shows no transformation or remorse. I will continue to pray for the Republican Delegates to stand up against the choice made by Americans in anger. Nothing good comes from decisions made in anger ever. Mature Christians know that baby Christians are constantly under spiritual attack. Writing in Ted Cruz, the only Constitutional Conservative to run. He suspended his campaign. He did not drop out.
Right on. IF he really accepted Christ – it is important to understand 1 Timothy 1:12-16:
"I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life." Saul wasn’t at all like Christ when he began his journey. He spent 14 years in Arabia, so that God could get a hold of him before he began ministering as "Paul." See Galatians 1. Pray for Trump, whether he really accepted Christ or not. He needs it. #prayfortrump
Mary, Trump does not need or have to confess his sins publicly or to you he inly needs to confess to Christ. God knows Trump’s heart. God asks us to pray and trust Him because He IS in control.
Mary Pringle
Whom has he harmed?
I love Donald Trump and this makes me love him even more! He is bold and is the only one talking about helping Christians. I do think more pastors need to speak up in defending Christians and Christian principals. He definately has my vote and my husband switched from democrat to GOP to vote for him in the primary.
Right on about pastors needing to speak out. Give a listen to "Time To Rescue Freedom" and "To Love God Is To Resist Evil" on our "audio" section. You’ll be encouraged. Thanks for sharing!
Soooo, since Hillary Clinton has actually been a Christian for many years, that means you love her even more, right? Because otherwise, you would be just another hypocrite.
I too am waiting to see. THis has really been a trying election as Ted Cruz is the One that I truly beleive God had for America and best represents me and my belief . Trump is a business man and has said. I know how to close the deal. So He will say and do anything. What I do know is, if he is sincere in that He did accept Jesus Christ as His savior There will be fruit there will be evidence. There will have to be a change in areas of his life and time will tell. Otherswise I will write in Ted Cruz Name as my conscience won’t allow me to vote just because I am forced to . I will trust God to make a way and I have been prayig too. FWI Ted Cruz only suspended his canidacy He didn’t pull out. ……I am still praying and waiting and listeneing to what God is saying.. I stand before God and Not man.
Pray for him. Pray for our nation. Really pray for God to move. And jump in on the National Week of Repentance. Our nation needs a bath: http://www.RevivalMatters.com. @revivalmatters
If Ted Cruz is the one "God had for America", how come he didn’t get enough delegates for the nomination?
Something to think about also: when writing a person’s name on the ballot that isn’t a candidate we essentially give our vote to the other party. Don’t misunderstand me either, please. This will be the hardest voting season for me since I began voting in 1980.
"A bad tree cannot produce good fruit, nor a good tree produce bad fruit. By their fruits you will know them. "
"The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks. "
"Anyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord’ but does not love his brother is not my disciple. "
"Many false teachers will come among you. They will be wolves in sheep’s clothing. By their fruits you will know them. "
I apologize for the lack of references and any paraphrasing or typos. I’m posting this on my mobile. In any case, I’m fairly certain Christ left clear instructions for deciding if trump was one of his followers. Following those instructions yields an indisputable negative.
Thanks, Joe! Well said. IF Trump really accepted Christ – it is important to understand 1 Timothy 1:12-16:
"I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. Note that you said, "He spent 14 years in Arabia… before he began ministering."
Trump is scheduled to start in 5 months. If he spends 14 years among the people he’s called for unilaterally banning from the USA, then maybe I’ll consider him fit for service. Until then, he doesn’t even meet the requirements for an overseer listed by Paul in 1 Timothy 3 (2 chapters after the verses you posted). I’ve pasted the Scripture below for reference.
Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full[a] respect. 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7 He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.
8 In the same way, deacons[b] are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9 They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.
Is the USA a large pastoral search committee? Are we electing a Pastor In Chief or a POTUS? This kind of thinking is fundamentally flawed, because no such candidate is qualified this year, in my opinion. If we were selecting elders and deacons, as the 1 Timothy passage pertains (not to President) you’d be right on. But your application is askew in a significant way. We are not appointing a pastor, elder or deacon here. I think the day is gone when we can vote for a candidate who shares our values. I think the idea is to vote for the one who will allow you to live in line with your values. For me, it’s the candidate who values the Constitution and does not seek to reinterpret, undermine or marginalize it.
If we aren’t looking for a man to have any sort of spiritual authority, then why does it matter whether or not he’s a Christian at all? Isn’t this whole bit just some smoke-and-mirrors then? Ain’t noone comin after the American church; worst anyone’s talking about is removing 501c3 status. Only person I’ve heard discussing preventing people from living in line with their values is Trump. Unless carrying firearms, regulating which bathroom transexuals enter, and making mass-generalizations are considered values.
I agree Michael Anthony
Whether he is a new Christian or not has absolutely no relation as to whether he is fit to be the president.
He clearly is unfit for office. One only has to listen to his incoherent ramblings regarding any domestic or international issue to determine that.
If a serial killer wanted to be your baby sitter, would you hire that person just because they recently became a Christian?
Thanks for sharing, Bob. Our blog is a place where folks can share regardless of their views. #prayfortrump in the meantime. #prayforhillary too.
Trump is more qualified than Clinton who allowed 4 members of our military to die. I look at Trump and see someone who has a deep passion for this country. I don’t see that in Clinton.
Soooo you didn’t vote for Dubya then, did you? After all, 90 consulate and ambassador staff died on his watch. You didn’t vote for Reagan either did you? After all, the dozens of soldiers in the USS Cole bombing died on his watch.
…
I know already…you are just another hypocrite.
So bob who made you the expert. Have you ever lead anyone apart from your dog for a walk. Have hou run companies or are you involved in government or politics …….
I pray this is true and have been praying Donald’s soul and those of his family would be saved. My first qualification for POTUS is that the person know the Lord because, if not, how will they seek Him and obey Him? We live in a troubled world and only in seeking God will we, or any leader, find the answers needed. Jesus said we will know them by their fruit; therefore, I will look for buds of change. Up until now I have been "NeverTrump" but will pray this is not only true, but a real conversion.
“I don’t know when it was but it has not been long, and I believe he really made a commitment, but he’s a baby Christian, we all need to be praying for him, especially if theres a possibly of him being our next chief executive officer, and I think that he’s open. He doesn’t know our language, you know, we had 40 Christians together with him, he used the word hell four or five times, he doesn’t know our language, he really doesn’t, and he refers a lot to religion and not much to faith and belief.”
Oh good grief, Dobson. Shut up already. Who voted you judge of everybody’s spiritual posture.
Praying for Our Country and for Donald Trump.
Yep, pray for our leaders, including our current ones.
Regarding Trump, I can’t help but think of Paul’s words later in Timothy 6:3-5
If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
Thank you for posting this. It’s so hard anymore to trust anything the candidates are saying. I want to trust Trump. This gives me some hope.
No, Bob, I would not hire a serial killer to be my baby sitter. That is why I am helping to put Trump in office rather than your girl Hillary. If you wouldn’t hire a serial killer to be your kid’s baby sitter, then why do you want to hire Hillary? She has blood on her hands already. Your fellow citizens have children who are serving the country in the military. You want to put your their children in the hands of this serial killer as Commander-in-Chief? Shame on you.
This is the honest Truth, everyday I pray for protection for Mr. Trump, his family, & all those who work closely around him. Then I pray that the burden of his endeavor would cause him to cry out to God for help and he and his household would be saved. This is REALLY wonderful news. We must continue to pray for him in this way and for his family. I’ll say this:I have never seen a man so persecuted by ALL the Press, All the Liberals, and Most of the Republican party. He seems to be able to continue to rise above this. To me it is the Hand of God. God gave us Obama for a judgment and he Sailed through every evil action of his, along with his staff. I am hoping now that the Lord is having mercy on this country and hearing our prayers. Praise God for helping us when we don’t deserve it!!
Praise the Lord !!!! That is WONDERFUL NEWS !!!!!! CONTRARY TO WHAT YOU BELIEVE ..BOB 45 MIN AGO…..BEING A CHRISTIAN…..A CHILD OF GOD…….MAKES HIM THE MOST FIT……TO BE POTUS……THANK YOU LORD JESUS !!!! PRAYING FOR POTUS….DONALD TRUMP !!!!
No he is not fit to be Potus, but God can change him.
And after Trump left this meeting with the Cuck Evangelicals he went to a meeting with the sodomites and promised them that he had been converted to their way of thinking.
You people are so gullible it is embarrassing to have to say I am a Christian thus associating myself with y’all.
LeRoy, this is exactly what the article warns against. It may sound dubious, but who are you to decide if it is true or not? Are you saying God is not powerful enough to save Donald Trump? We, as Christians need to have hope and faith that it is true, at least until we start seeing the fruits of the Holy Spirit. And if it is not true, that will manifest itself in due time as well. Either way, we should be praying for him, not scoffing at what could be a great interceding of God for our nation, that He may just well be giving us one last chance before the final axe falls.
The self righteousness of the far right amazes me like the pharasees! God prepares people for positions and if they aren’t perfect look out. All the candidates are flawed. But the country needs strength and a knowledgeable finance builder to rebuild infrastructure and our economy. I’ll take that over a career politician lawyer reading TelePrompTers that depends on lobbyist and special interests. Washington, D.C. Has been bought and we no longer own our government. It’s way out of control. Immigration and lack of borders was a planned event to bring in the NWO that old Bush mentioned first. I believe we need to nix that like brexit did!
just as a fox hole conversion usually doesn’t last, professing faith in Christ when you are loosing in your campaign, may be seen as a last ditch effort to get votes from a large section of the country….a large voting block that is needed to win….example Romney. If Trump is serious about his rumored new faith, he would be wise to drop out of the campaign and focus on following Christ and learning of Him.
Jayne
What if this IS his calling
By God.
Trump my not be pretty or perfect or even be the next President but he has been sent as a messenger and singlehandedly with great cost to himself he has managed to awaken people as to what has been going on the last 8 years with Obama and enabled by the Republicans and the mainstream Marxist media. Day in and day we are treated to veiled insults and innuendos and extreme hatred against him. How dare he try to run for president. He’s not part of our insider club. By their fruits you shall know them might apply to them who so vilify him. It is not for me to judge him but seeing what has been going on I decided I wasn’t going to leap to Clinton who has a record of deceit and poor judgement and would be the final march to total socialism/communism. When it comes down to being frightened of consequences just for giving an opinion this nation is in trouble.
I also decided I would not refuse to vote because to do so would usher in the loss of America as a sovereign nation. So Mr. Trump I say thank you. You have instilled some bravery in the docile. I believe him when he says I am doing it for America. He sure didn’t need all this venom directed against him yet he labors on.
You sure said it competently and correctly, Mona! May God bless you for standing up for the truth! Yes, he’s super rich, he did not need all this venom directed against him, yet he labors on. What better picture could be drawn from his constant laboring? And he does it at 69 years of age–a senior’s age–when he should take his young princess (wife) out and enjoy life to its fullest!
This is the man who can be whatever he needs to be!
So who is Bob ? Hillary , what a joke… And being a Christian has everything to do with it, we can do nothing without Christ..
The majority of the people love what Mr. Trump says , but not how he says it ! Every one has an opinion but HOW you speak your opinion to someone makes a difference in how they receive it . If Mr. Trump has received Christ as his savior, there will be a change in him and you will see and hear a difference. I’m praying for our Great Nation and our leaders now and the ones to come !! God Bless the USA !!
What a joke. Trump whistles the dog whistle on the note C (for Christian) and that makes everything he says or does ok with Evangelicals. Disgusting.
Are you a believer Paul? Do you understand about forgiveness? I mean true forgiveness; not this fairy-tale forgiveness that the world wants you to believe but the type of forgiveness that comes from having the Spirit live inside of you.
Look, before I was saved I was on the other side of the fence and Jesus came into my life and made everything new. If Mr. Trump has accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior then as a member of the Church we need to lift him up constantly in prayer.
If you want to believe it or not is totally up to you! Love you brother!
Read the Bible Paul, and then maybe you can catch up with the rest of us!
Did u actually read the whole article? Nothing in there said just because he dropped the word "Christian" it was all ok. And I saw the word IF a few times too. It also said IF he truly accepted Christ, the change wouldn’t be apparent immediately. One is to give it time to bear some fruit. Does a baby grow into an adult overnight? No. It takes time but you will see the signs of growth along the way. Same with Christians. Pray for the man, whether he did it or not. He’s going to need it.
You said something I disagree with, I believe that when someone encounters Christ there is an immediate change. That isn’t to say it’s a complete change, but it’s noticeable. The woman at the well encountered Jesus, having been someone because of her shame among the outcasts would go to the well at the hottest time of the day in order to avoid others, ended up running back into Samaria and telling those who ostracized her that she had met the Messiah. Zacchaeus paid back four times as much as he stole from his brethren after Jesus met with him. Even Saul submitted to teaching and learning and proclaimed Christ the first opportunity he had. Yes, each of them needed to continue to grow, but there was an immediate and a noticeable difference in each of them. Has that happened with Trump? Will he give up his casinos? His inflammatory rhetoric? His narcissism?
I’ve been praying for him from the beginning of this election cycle and will continue to do so. I truly hope he is walking with Christ. It will be very hard for him as so many things are going to knock him off track with as busy as he is and the secular lifestyle he has embraced. Pray for his clarity in Christ and for his safety.
Making a commitment in covenant is one thing. Obeying the mandates of the covenant are what shows fruit. I’ll believe him when I see him show fruits of repentance so that (Faith and works) become one as a sign of his salvation by Grace through faith JAmes 2 and 3 state this as well as HEbrews 11.
He will need deliverance from his former mentorship by Norman Vincent Peel. Please pray for The Holy SPirit to do a true work in him in Yah’shua’s name.
Yes, the very first time I took noticed of him , he was very likable to me opposite than what other people say about him. Then, I’ve been praying that he would have a personal encounter with God. And I’m glad he did. Yes, I will continually praying for him everyday.
Because it is politically beneficial for him to do so. As we have seen in the past by his comments, he will pander to whichever side to gain favor (and votes). Sorry, I am not convinced by his "conversion."
Before word of his conversion, I had already planned to vote for Trump for several reasons. First, he will vote for more conservatives for the Surpreme Court than Clinton will. Second, no vote or a written in vote is a vote against Trump and for Clinton. Third, he wants to protect the US not give it away like Clinton and Obama. Fourth, he is seeking the advice of Godly men. Is Clinton? Yes, it may be for votes, but he is being influenced by their advice. No, as Christians we don’t agree with everything he says or does. However, most leaders in the Bible wouldn’t have the support of a lot of Christians either. Everything that people point out about Trump, you will find the same sin in the Bible. But the truth is, we all have sinned. So I totally agree with this article. Let’s get on our knees and pray for Mr. Trump instead of "casting stones". The choice is clear, Trump or Clinton. If you have reasons to not vote for Trump, you better be sure you want that to be a yes vote for Clinton.
God, yes — raise up Your David to lead this nation. We do not deserve this. We appeal to Your infinite mercy in Jesus name. Use the candidates or use someone else, Jesus, we leave it to You. Glorify Yourself above all in this!
The Bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil. Mr. Trump has bragged about his love of money. Can he change? Yes, through God’s grace. But, has he changed? I don’t know. After St. Paul was converted he spent lots of time in study and prayer. If Mr. Trump has truly seen the errors in his way of life to this point, he will do the same. Which means he would drop out of the Presidential race and spend his time in intensive Bible study. It would also profit him to stay away from all those who would lead him back to his old ways, business people, political people, media people etc. If he really wants to follow Christ.
LOL OMG in other words…It means he will follow your commands instead…. If he really wants to follow Christ he will obey you…
my thoughts exactly
If none of you would talk to each other like this during face-to-face conversation (I’m assuming most of you wouldn’t), what makes it appropriate to degrade strangers’ opinions in the comments section of a blog post? Especially those of us that claim to be Christians. Christians are diverse. We have different opinions–even when it comes to politics believe it or not. If you really want to change people’s minds, go grab a beer (or coffee) with someone who thinks differently than you and talk face-to-face.
Lolly you are wrong. No one expects anyone to be the same, dress the same act the same or to use the same bathrooms. I don’t know where you get your info from but you couldn’t be more wrong. It is religion that wants everyone to be the same, to worship the same to act the same. Thankfully in the United States we are not bound by religion or the laws of the bible. We are free to worship any god we please. Or to not worship any god. We are free to be individuals. To act the same as everyone or to act differently from everyone else. I am thankful I have freedom from religion.
To say I am skeptical is an understatement. That said, it would be a wonderful thing "for him" if he became a Christian. However, it has nothing to do with him being in anyway acceptable as a presidential candidate, and I would have much more faith in his Christianity if he realized that and withdrew for the good of the country.
The mocking comments I read below by those who laughingly preach tolerance but, of course, demand it of everyone else while being among the most intolerant of anyone or anything they disagree with are doing what they do–that is show themselves to be a mocking, judging, hateful people who believe and hope for the worst of people they mark as an enemy. The spiritually dead will do what the spiritually dead do and we should expect that.
People, some of us were once like Trump. 1 Corinthians 6:
9 "Or do you not know that the unrighteous[b] will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,[c] 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God." The Spirit changes hearts. And habits sometimes change slowly. I’m encouraged by this possibility. Let’s wait and see what the next few months hold before we judge the motives of his heart. Only God knows his heart. We need time to see if his actions lend credance to what we are hearing. We have time. Let’s pray that God would make it clear to all of us. As a new Christian, did my actions always line up with what God had done in my heart? No, but thank God, He was patient and kind, and those around me were too. If Trump is our brother in Christ, we will one day live with him in eternity. Let’s learn to love him and give him grace now while we are on earth.
I have been praying for Trump, and praying for Hillary, and praying for "whoever becomes our next president". Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Hillary, in this time when she could go to prison for what she has been doing, became a Christian! Even if Donald Trump HAS become a Christian, before I could even consider voting for him, it will take sincere private AND public apologies to the individuals who he has name-called and made fun of in this election process: private, because that would be necessary if the apology is actually sincere — that would show that it’s not all for show; public, because he ridiculed these people in public. Then he would have to stop! That is SO far from acting as Christ would want His children to act. Has he taken down his "Lying Cheating Hillary" (or something like that) website yet? If he is still unwilling or unable to treat people with basic respect(a person’s evil actions can be pointed out and fought against without name-calling like a toddler, like my children knew at the age of five was unacceptable), then he is not someone who I would vote for. If he HAS become a Christian, and still acts like a child throwing a fit when someone is up against him in an election, then I’d say that he is too much of a baby Christian to be the leader of the country that I and my children live in! As someone previously wrote in a comment, maybe he needs to quit the race and focus on his relationship with Jesus. If I see a real change in Trump…if he becomes humble enough to say he was wrong and apologizes to those he has made fun of, and then changes, I can definitely vote for him! In fact, the same goes for Hillary! If she repented to Jesus and changed her evil ways, and started following God’s Word, I could vote for her! Also, has Trump said publicly that he has repented to Jesus? I’ll need to hear that, too, since he has, in the past, said that he has never repented to Jesus, but that he is a Christian. One of the scariest things about Trump, to me, has been that I have heard many, many well-known Christians actually excuse his sins. Sin is sin, even if the person is who you support for president.
Well, well, well. Was there a real conversion to the Lord Jesus? I hope this is true but W. Bush supposedly became a born again Christian too. Fool me once . . . . I don’t think Dobson is deceiving us, but is Trump deceiving us just to get the Christian vote? If there is no indication in the near future of Trump’s conversion, then treat him like Hillary, because he has said, before he was running, that Hillary and Bill are terrific people and that they are his friends and were his friends for years. If I believe he really did get on his knees and admit he was a sinner like the rest of us, then I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he broke his friendship off with the Clintons, and even the Bushs and all these other crooked people he has called terrific people or his friends. One thing to keep in mind is that Trump went to Fordham University, an overtly Jesuit University, and Jesuits are good for pretending to be Protestants in an attempt to steer people to Roman Catholicism and to the Pope. Kenneth Copeland, a couple of years ago lead his assembly of evangelical leaders in semi-worship of Pope Francis, a Jesuit. Billy Graham and Benny Hinn both support the Vatican and the Popes. So let’s see what happens. I will back off on mentioning Trumps past relationships with the Clintons and Bush and others unless I still see the same old Trump.
Unfortunately, searching for a political savior is not the way God is going to save America. The only hope for this country and the world is complete surrender to Jesus Christ as Savior and LORD. Re-birth is instantaneous and there will be immediate change, even though people may not believe it. As Christians, we must obey the WORD of GOD and pray for all who are in and seek to be in political power, for no one is beyond the POWER of GOD. "The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wishes." (Proverbs 21:1)
paul davis maybe you need a dose of Jesus ,there will be a change in mr trump may take a while but Jesus makes changes
For his sake I hope he has found a spiritual path, some kind of faith. That said, his words, actions, and rationales are unhinged. His personal faith or lack thereof is a separate issue. In no way is this man qualified or competent to be president. He’s dangerous to our country and knows how to manipulate gullible people by appealing to their basic instincts and dividing them.
Evangelicals are projecting their need for some type of strong savior-ish leader on him. They want the Supreme Court, and their various individual political agendas, and will follow someone who is clearly not just unqualified, but unfit and potentially dangerous, to get it.
Weak people will just follow the bully because he appears strong to them. He can say things that make no sense whatsoever, not be examined or held accountable, and the intellectually lazy follow him, and the leaders who recommend him. Particularly vulnerable are those who are used to being told what to think and how to vote.
It’s gullible and naive to do so. This type of blind following leads countries down very dark roads.
You pious dudes that can’t stomach Trump, please compare him to your alternative, Hillary, and tell me he is not "Christian" enough for you while you stand with someone that is the face of anti God. I believe your "holier than thou" attitude has a crack in it that shows your true heart!
Please Donald Trumps tells so called Evsngelicsl
Leaders what they want to hear and they are ready to back and support. Look who he picked as his advisors. Two people who as a Christian I have no wish to identify with. So tired of right wing racist homophobes hiding behind the name of the Lord Jesus to justify their bigotry. And yes that means you James Dobson
Jesus very own words… (written in red) Are you also calling him a bigot, homophobe? OR are you one that just ignores half of it? Rev. 22 14 How blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they have the right to eat from the Tree of Life and go through the gates into the city! 15 Outside are the homosexuals, those involved with the occult and with drugs, the sexually immoral, murderers, idol-worshippers, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. 16 “I, Yeshua, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the Messianic communities. I am the Root and Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star. 17 The Spirit and the Bride say, ‘Come!’ Let anyone who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let anyone who is thirsty come — let anyone who wishes, take the water of life free of charge.”
18 I warn everyone hearing the words of the prophecy in this book that if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues written in this book. 19 And if anyone takes anything away from the words in the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the Tree of Life and the holy city, as described in this book.
Yes, we should pray for Trump regardless of his salvific condition. And not just Psalm 109:8, like many professing Christians pray for President Obama, as they prostitute God’s Word for political leverage or (worse yet) a cheap joke. But actual prayer. Not only is it Scriptural, but Trump (who seems to rank above Jesus in many evangelicals’ minds these days) gave us permission to "pray for everyone" in that meeting.
That said …
(1) Let’s forget that Paul’s 14 years of preparation in Arabia was God getting him ready to preach to a good chunk of the known world and pen 2/3 of the New Testament. Let’s even forget that your analogy means that Trump should go away for 14 years and then come back to be the leader of the free world. But my question is this: Are we supposed to wait until 2030 to see fruit? Because that seems to be your argument.
(2) I’m going to assume that this alleged conversion experience happened AFTER Trump stated that he saw little/no need for forgiveness. Because even the babiest of "baby Christians" wouldn’t say that. Unless this mystery person who Dobson chooses not to name epic failed at explaining what salvation was.
(3) Trump was alone in a room with hundreds of evangelicals, all of whom would be over the moon about his conversion experience. Why weren’t the first words out of his mouth, "Guess what, guys!"?
To God be ALL glory, and oh what an answer to my prayers. The harvest is ready, but the workers are scattered. I love this news
If Donald Trump accepted Christ, then when is he going to make it right for the thousands that he employes to earn a decent living instead of collecting food stamps to make ends meet. Also since when is name calling a follower of the church, also by the fact check .com why does he continue to lie. Dr. Dobson When you accept this man at his word & still think he has accepted Christ then I think you owe the American people an apology for misleading us into thinking this man is close to sainthood.
The reason why it should be blatantly obvious to every Christian that Trump’s "conversion" is just another one of his scams is not because God cannot transform a sinner; it is the timing of the "conversion". If you think it is just a coincidence that he has found the Lord while he is angling for Christian votes, you may want to take it up in prayer, asking God to help you follow Jesus’ command to be "as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves" (Matt 10:16).
There is nothing godly about being gullible.
Let’s us pray for Mr. Trump & pray for God’s mercy upon this great country.
Paul Davis…Oh ye of little faith…you would have likely said the same thing about Saul when he became Paul. Why don’t you pray for him instead of disparaging him as a joke? You do know how to pray, don’t you?
The harm is not that Trump believes in Santa Claus or not, but that people see Trump as Santa Claus.
"Know them by their fruits"
No, Christianity isn’t all about putting on a little show about how wonderful you are.
Here is my observation. Look at the photo posted with this article. Trump has his arms CLOSED…what does that say in ‘body language’? Beyond that truth, I challenge Trump to immediately divest any business which is in direct opposition to the Bible’s teachings (ex: escort service), offer a public apology for all the lies he has told (mostly in the form of personal attacks), and publicly encourage his pal David Pecker, of Natl Enquirer renown, to seek Jesus. Then maybe Trump could graduate from an ‘unborn’ to a ‘toddler’ Christian. I have prayed for him many times, but I agree the BEST way to show his sincerity is to drop out before the Republican convention and let the ‘adult’ Christian, Ted Cruz, become the nominee. For God and Country !
Where are his Fruits? I See No Change Whatsoever!! Repentance is never Invisible!!! Time most certainly will tell, Be FOREWARNED!
Pray for Mr Trump as our leader and as a brother for His desire to Know Christ on a deeper level. Don’t judge.
Keep lifting him with our love.
After all, who is perfect?
Brothers and Sisters, although I’m not particularly his fan, if he really prayed the Prayer of Salvation and he meant it, he’s been born into the family of God…were all of you immediately perfect in word and deed after you came to Jesus…I sure wasn’t…I thought "Corinthian" was the leather in your car!
Anyway, even if you dislike and disapprove of the man, and you call yourself a Follower of Jesus, you should pray for him and not denigrate your Baby Brother…Peace.
The presidency is a job. The election is a hiring process. God bless the man if "God got ahold of him…" it just has nothing to do with being qualified for POTUS. Trump’s failure to deal in facts, his failure to demonstrate a basic knowledge of the Constitution, of separation of powers, of what a Presidient IS, and of how foreign policy works, not to mention how to treat Americans who disagree with him, summarily disqualifies him. I don’t care if the man is a grade A Christian, this campaign has been a job interview, and Trump failed.
Dobson can pray for him, since he knows him. I have real people in my real life to pray for. Trump is media wing-ding in the background that has no relationship to me or anyone I know. Forget him and the presidential election, and pray for your city and your neighborhood.
Real conversion….then he will "speak it with his mouth"…..Or is is convo eminent cover for Christians who should know better…..or is it "The Art of the Deal"?!
The fact is, Mr. Trump is super rich–if one researches and sees his wealth. He did not need all this venom directed against him, yet he labors on. What better picture could be drawn from his constant laboring in this unprecedented election process? And he does it at 69 years of age–a senior citizen’s age–when he should take it easy, and often take his young princess (wife) out in extended vacations and enjoy life to its fullest! What a nice picture, a lot of [blinded] people fail to apprehend!
WORD! She food for thought for a lot of folks who don’t believe God can! God can! Ask me how I know, once a sinner now saved!
We should pray for Donald Trump. We should NOT vote for him. He is simply an awful candidate — narcissistic, divisive, extremely dishonest, and abysmally ignorant. And besides all that, very weak (at best) on issue of Life.
Yes, I am skeptical. A claimed conversion at this point in time is EXACTLY what we should expect from this candidate who so far has been very dishonest. And how convenient that James Dobson was not told the date that it happened. If we knew that, we could look for evidence, comparing Trump before and after. Since we don’t know, our hopeful imaginations are free to pick any recent or fairly recent seemingly more reasonable event or statement from him as evidence.
For his sake and his family’s sake, I hope it is true. For our country’s sake, (whether or not the conversion is true) I hope he is rejected at the convention, or that he and Hillary are beaten by a conservative 3rd party candidate.
Paul said that three things endure forever: "Faith, hope, and love". Hope is a wonderful thing, but only when it is well placed. Foolishly placed hope is not helpful. Hope that Donald Trump’s reported conversion is true, and that he will be transformed into a Godly man early in his presidency WHEN WE HAVE YET TO SEE THAT TRANSFORMATION is foolishly placed hope.
For our country, we should be hoping (and working toward) getting a good candidate to vote for and place in office. That could happen at the Republican convention, or through a third party. Both may be seen as long shots, but in this very unusual year they are both certainly possible, and are things we can work toward and hope for. Donald Trump’s transformation is something only God can do, but hoping that it will happen before the convention or the election when we haven’t seen it is not wise at all. We need a good candidate. This report should give us NO confidence that Trump is that candidate.
Incidently, Hillary Clinton has been a professing Christian her entire adult life, as far as I know. We could hope that her faith is or once was real, and that it will be re-awakened and her commitment to Christ deepened and she will become pro-life and be a good president. This hope is just as realistic as hope that Trump’s conversion is real and that he will be transformed soon.
Replace Trump at the convention, or beat him and Hillary with someone else (the effort is underway in case stopping him at the convention doesn’t work). If those 2 fail, I will be writing someone in. A truly miraculous, 180 DEGREE transformation of Donald Trump would cause me to reconsider. However, some small sign giving a (probably false) hope that he is a Christian will be utterly ignored by me. Short of a miraculous TRANSFORMATION, I will never vote for Donald Trump. Even then, his policy positions and ignorance would probably prevent me from voting for him.
This report could easily be an attempt to soften the strength behind the dump trump movement at the convention. If enough Christians are willing to put enough hope in this to weaken their resolve to switch to a different candidate, it could help him get through (which would be a big mistake). Again, it would be great for him and his family, obviously, if it is true. But for our nation, the thing to do is replace him at the convention or promote a conservative 3rd party candidate.
sounds like we need to pray for you… crawl down off that throne as it does not belong to you
I am always grateful for prayers. I’m not sure how my comments about the wisdom of supporting a particular candidate amount to being on a throne.
Thanks, Bryan!
Doesn’t really matter how genuine it is, or he is personally. Who will best represent the values we cherish? and who will work to destroy everything we believe in? God works with the vessel for His good.
Interesting…I cannot believe some of these comments. First of all, who are we to judge whether or not Donald Trump, or anyone else, has accepted Christ as his Savior? I have seen people become Christians late in life — people who, one would think, would have been the last ones on the face of the earth to be saved. And I have seen real change in their lives. It happens. Second, Whether it’s true or not, we should be praying for the man. It was good to see that 1000 evangelical leaders met with Trump this week, talked with him, and prayed for him. And finally, it may very well be true. Trump has recently given God the credit numerous times for him finding Bobby Knight’s (whose endorsement helped him win the Indiana primary) phone number so easily. Trump used to do rallies on Sundays, and I just recently commented on the fact that he no longer does. And I noticed this past week that he seemed to have cleaned up his language somewhat. Trump is rough around the edges. He has not been surrounded by Christian jargon all his life. He’s 70 years old. He’s not going to turn into Billy Graham over night. So cut the guy some slack. There is hope. Let’s do what those Christian leaders did this week and pray for Donald Trump.
Thank you for your reasonable, well-articulated comments. They are refreshing and much appreciated!
Trump is a user with no respect. Whatever he does believe he will happily set aside to curry favor. It’s so sad to see people like Dr. Dobson pander to him. I will pray for his soul, but not for his success.
Yes, God can transform anyone. Praying for Donald Trump and for America! God is our only hope.
Well I still see that men argue over whether some is a new Christian or not, I wonder what proves they are Christian. When people are praying and God answers pray, why do we doubt? Paul in the bible was not a fabulous person to begin with. David made mistakes, Peter made mistakes. We listen to these men that were at the meeting with Mr. Trump, but then when they back him, we call it a joke or doubt it. How many other running candidates have ever done this type of meeting? None that I know of. Even if it is the wrong thing, I know that God is still in control of my world and he will take care of me. Have a great day everyone.
I admit I am searching for words to express my amazement. But then, I am not really amazed at the skepticism so many have voiced in these comments. I applaud all who suggest that we Pray for Donald Trump and all the leaders of this country. I too am taken aback with the news Dr. James Dobson has shared with you Michael. But I certainly am not one to presume I know the heart of a person so well that I can declare Dr. Dobson to be in error and Donald Trump to be a fake in this confession. I also have a few years behind me and have observed numerous conversions and professions of faith by well known people and people in influential positions. I cheered the conversions only to see the enemy come and steal away the seeds or see the young believer get choked out by the influences and attractions of the world. Personally, I believe the most difficult job in this country for a Christian to have and maintain a strong witness to their faith is that of POTUS. It must be grueling when the mockers and haters throw their accusations. It is even more grueling when the brothers and sisters sit as judges of each move, each word, each decision and declare the genuineness of a person’s faith based on their legalism. And, after all that, to have to balance the scales with the interests of all those who demand their way from the President. Pure honesty and transparency is impossible when the opposition is as fierce as this world is not against believers. Just to say one believes in Christ as God and Savior is to be assaulted by those who hate God and anyone who believe in God.
If Donald Trump has come to a point of belief where he has confessed and received the free gift of salvation which Jesus Christ provided for through His death on the cross, there his nothing ahead but suffering and accusations. He does need our prayers. If Trump is playing the evangelical crowd to get votes we can be assured he is still in for some rough sailing. The enemy of our souls and the enemy of righteousness will do whatever he can to lead as many astray as possible.
Yes, pray for Donald Trump and ask that God be glorified and Jesus Christ be honored and lifted up. in honor. Pray for yourself that you might have the clarity of thought and mind. Do not lean on your own understanding, acknowledge God in all your ways. Seek wisdom and pursue knowledge and ask for God’s guidance in all that you think, say and do.
We can skip the part about sending him to Arabia for 14 years, that place has changed a lot since then.
Dr Dobson, I would be more inclined to accept this conversion account if you first repented of all the evil vile you’ve written and spoken against President Obama–a professing Christian–over the past eight years, all in the name of God.
Trump a Christian? He would be a dog if it would get him elected. By the way–just as likely too!
hmm which breed dog are you?
I will back off on mentioning Trumps past relationships with the Clintons and Bush and others unless I still see the same old Trump.
ahhh yes… you shall know them by their fruits…. You are a democrat… Naturally NO republican would ever meet your "standards" to qualify as a Christian… funny you left out obama who "claimed" he was a Christian…but has many many times slipped and referred to his muslim faith and the "beautiful" call to pray… (that weird horn blowing at dawn) ohhh and how obama says he’s a christian and obviously hates Israel… or did you forget that
If this is true, let Donald Trump share his new found faith and conversion with the world rather than hearing it second hand from James Dobson. Profession of our faith and belief is the first step on the journey.
Just in time for the U.S. Presidential Election. How convenient.
"If God gets hold of Trump"
This is exactly the kind of statement and what it represents that has driven me out of the Republican Party and made me wary of organized religion including Christianity.
I was raised in a Congregational Church. I consider myself a Christian. The idea I have to be born again to be Christian- to be a good person who follows the 10 commandments is absurd. I don’t need some born again experience to believe in Jesus.
I don’t know if trump is born again or not- I don’t care.
It is the intolerant, condemning attitudes of born again Christians who have driven me out of churches. The number of high profile born again leaders who use prostitutes, gay and straight, bezzel money and all the other things they’ve done over the years makes me believe conservative Christians are just a bunch of hypocrites.
The Bible says in St. John, Chapter 3, verse 3, Jesus said, " Verily, verily, I say unto thee, ‘ Except a man be BORN again, he cannot see the Kingdom of Heaven’". Jesus was referring to a new birth spiritually, not the womb birth, as HE explained to Nicodemus.
Mr. Trump has lived his life for wealth and fame. The church he says he attends says he’s not a member. He claims he doesn’t have anything to be forgiven for. He doesn’t know how to cite a bible verse. He brags about multiple incidents of adultery. He regularly insults anyone who disagrees with him. He mocked a disabled man. He talked about his genitals in a nationally televised debate. He questioned the faith of Mr. Carson, Mr. Romney, and Mrs. Clinton. If you believe this man is a sincere Christian, and not a wolf in sheep’s clothing, you really need God’s help. He’s the most ungodly candidate in this or any election in this country’s history.
omg The church I attend now and have regularly for almost 4 yrs now..and pay tithes to for the nearly 4 yrs… I have never officially joined. I’ve taken over 100 hrs in New Testament at a Bible college and neither can I quote or cite exact… So what if he questioned another’s faith… YOU are DOING THE SAME THING NOW. You need to spend some time in prayer and crawl down off God’s Throne… He did not invite you to squeeze in and sit in judgement of anyone. …"by their fruits you shall know them…." your fruit is starting to decay and stink
your fruit is getting a little ripe too methinks .
Lyndon Johnson, John Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Roosevelt, and on and on. Their lives away from the camera showed totally different men…and if Trump has repented nothing he has done before is in God’s book of life anymore. Who are we to try to rewrite that? All of our Presidents have claimed to br believers of Christ..some even as they sat in a church for twenty years while the pastor preached hate bigotry. I will pray for all. The fruits of the spirit..we have had time to see the results and fruits of Hillary’s spirt..her experience and sane leadership has shown some pretty devastating results. May God lead our decisions but may we all listen without letting our own biases and judgments drown out His voice.
Pam
True. #prayfortrump #prayforamerica
I pray it is true. I will be praying for him in a different way. No one really believed Chuck Colson either in the beginng
I’m so sorry to disagree with the believer who said that the "Holy Spirit" told him Trump is the best candidate for our President. I would like to thank those who are spiritually mature enough to know that God will never say anything against His own Word. Thank you to the gentleman who quoted the scriptures about "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks". I am praying for Trump, the same as I prayed for President Obama and all of our leaders. In these last days, if we will all look to Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our Faith more than we look for political figures to lead us, then we will not be blinded by public sentiment, emotion, insincere motives. Jesus said "You will know the truth and the truth will make you free." As long as we choose to hold up anyone that fosters hatred among God’s people, we are definitely looking at untruth….May God bless America!
What a bunch of pandering sellouts. It’s hard to believe that the James Dobson I grew up with has become this craven, this tied to electoral politics, that he’s willing to pretend Trump is a Christian, any more than Obama or the rest of them are.
omg…so obvious that you did not read what Dobson said and just rushed to your own self righteous judgements. shame on you. when he said it was not his place to judge him… IT ALSO MET NEITHER IS IT YOURS.
Trump is most likely pretending. It is his nature to do so. Don’t let him fool you.
Jesus said that if we pray ask our father for a loaf of bread, He won’t give us a stone… I don’t believe that, after all of the prayers gone up for a chance for America, God will answer our prayers for someone to save this country, God will send us a traitor. Trump isn’t perfect. But, if he’s forgiven, he’s our best bet. You can bet your bippy neither of the other candidates give a hoot about that.
We have the testimony of a brother in Christ that Mr. Trump accepted Christ as his Savior. This is news that we as Christians should celebrate! The personal decision of the heart is between God and Mr. Trump. It is up to his brothers and sisters in Christ to pray for him, as we are to pray for each other. Let us pray that God will bring Christian advisors along side him to advise him and help him to grow in Christ.
Dobson is always game when it comes to opportunities that gets him in the news, things that boost his status and so on. It is of no surprise to me that he is trying to portray Trump as a new baby in Christ, when Trump himself told everyone that he has been a christian since he was a kid. Since Dobson is one of the evangelical leaders that I know for sure will have to do some fancy footworks before God to explain his brand of christianity, it make sense that he is being used to put a new spin on things for Trump. It makes sense also because Dobson has no idea what it means to walk in spirit. Basically, they deserve each other.
Sadly, people like Trump and Dobson know that the majority of people have a sheep mentality and will follow those two just to somewhat be associated with people with status.
Bottom line is, the outward things such as attending church, reading the Bible, learning to control your behavior, learning Christian lingo and buzz words to appear and sound Christian and even when you have a title as a Pastor, they all means squat to God. I would love the opportunity to see Dobson defending his brand of Christianity to God at time of judgement.
Trump is a Lier! Every time he opens his mouth he lies. The only reason he is saying that he is a born again Christian are for your votes Grow up he’s not telling the truth!
certainly obvious that you are Not.
I know you are focusing on Donald Trump her, but in light of 1 Tim. 2:1-2, shouldn’t we pray just a fervently for Hillary Clinton? And love her soul? Is it possible that she is God’s answer to our prayers?
The example of Paul is a little off target. Paul showed immediately his complete change and began confounding those holding his previous beliefs (Acts 9:19-22). It can take some people a long time to show real fruit, but until they do it isn’t wise to trust them with position and authority. One doesn’t know if the person will turn out like Hymenaeus and Alexander or John Mark.
Yes, pray for Hillary too. Pray for America like you’ve never prayed before. http://www.RevivalMatters.com
Ridiculousness.
Billie Tompkins Russell
I recently had a dream of Donald Trump. In the dream, Donald Trump was kneeling
with hands as if praying. I did not understand the dream and wondered if it meant
he might have been praying, asking God for directions how to lead the country of America.
I have my doubts, but I’m not the one who has to judge what he really believes. I have to decided whether I think He or Hillary would be a better president. I gotta pray for this man and woman, our country, and my decision in November.
Yes I have been praying for Brother Trump, I have been praying for GOD to bless him. I have been praying that GOD would bless this country and make him our president, and I have been praying for his protection. And now I see my prayers becoming reality.
THANK YOU JESUS
The problem is, we are talking about entrusting Trump with more power than anyone else in the world. If Donald Trump has been saved, then praise God! The fruits will produce in time- except that we don’t have a lot of time. If I was making a decision about inviting him to dinner, even driving me somewhere in my car, that would be different, but we are talking about giving him the ability to start and end wars, to end lives- and as far as that goes, he has made it clear he does not respect restraints against non-combatants, such as women and children, and he only backed down from saying he would compel the military to disobey torture laws after public outcry. He has also made it clear he would "open up the libel laws" so that he could more easily sue reporters, which would strip away freedom of the press. He has already showed he is very serious about by revoking press credentials to his rallies. He may never completely run a propaganda machine, but he is not shy about manipulating what the press does and does not cover. These are things that are not ‘risks’ to consider. These are things he has said definitively.
Some Christian leaders have said ‘well, after all, we’re not voting to elect a preacher’- as if to say that because we would not be asking him for spiritual guidance then everything’s okay. However, what about the kind of spiritual guidance that is not sought but placed into law? We are still voting to select a spiritual leader, because now what we are voting for is who we would trust to guide us by force. Now, of course, the Church can still decide not to obey an unjust law and in fact has an obligation to, but that doesn’t mean it would not come at great sacrifice. And Donald Trump has made it clear he is not seeking the presidency to serve as a public servant. Otherwise, why would he already be making definitive statements of those things only a tyrant would do? Tyranny and freedom cannot coexist. I won’t vote for Hillary Clinton because she is a liberal and regardless of Trump’s spirituality, I won’t vote to elect a tyrant either. And for all the concern about the appointment of Supreme Court justices, can we really trust someone to keep that important a campaign promise who has demonstrated so little concern for repeatedly breaking vows to God? And if we vote by saying ‘well, at least trusting Trump is less risky than trusting Hillary’, are we actually going to say we are going to rely on ‘the odds’, especially when Trump’s beliefs regarding various issues have changed completely within the course of one interview?
This is exactly why the delegates need the freedom to vote their conscience, regardless. I would never have supported that before, truth be told, but this is an entirely different situation. It has always been expected that a candidate would be willing to release their tax returns, but he is not- the first time that has happened to my knowledge. How is it that either party should allow a candidate to be the nominee without the American people being able to vet them as much as the nominee would vet their own choice for Vice President?? And a lot of people who voted early did not have the advantage of knowing what a delegate will know about Trump by the time he or she goes to the Convention. The delegates being able to vote their conscience is one of the few checks to the imbalance of a candidate being able to become the nominee, even President, who isn’t anything like a lot of us thought he was, earlier in the race.
But another thing to consider is, why doesn’t character matter? Regardless of whether or not Trump is recently converted, his candidacy should have ended when he mocked the disabled reporter. Because there are disabled children in this Country who, from that moment on, have been subjected to actual video clips of not only Trump doing that but 1000’s of his supporters cheering him on. He cannot put that genie back in the bottle and yet is not going to suffer any consequences? He might as well have given license to bullies- and it’s one thing when it’s coming from a candidate, but the President?
It is unfortunate that Donald Trump has not had more time to ‘walk the walk’. I would have soooo much more confidence in his integrity and believability than I do right now. And while no one is perfect, again, we are talking about the presidency. And although we are not voting for a pastor, we are still voting for someone who has the power to guide the Church- if not by advice, by law.
OMGosh really? You are over-thinking this too much. We are not voting for a spiritual leader. We ONLY have two choices: Clinton or Trump. If you choose not to vote, you are still voting, but you will be voting for a criminal (murderer/traitor). Trump is not perfect and neither are you. Why don’t you get on your knees and ask God for His wisdom.
First, please don’t use the old "to abstain is to vote for Hillary" argument. It’s not. A non-vote is a non-vote. But if you insist on that line of reasoning than logic would dictate that a non-vote or third party vote is just as much a vote for Trump as it is for Hillary. You can’t have it one way. Second, we will see a lot of citizens abstaining this election. They should not be given the guilt treatment. Choosing to not vote is just as much an American right as choosing to vote.
This talk just further confuses the scene. Two things: 1. Is Trump a new Christian? We, none of us, can possibly know. I’d rather hear it from him if he is. 2. Does it matter whether or not he is a Christian? Well, it matters in many ways and not at all in others. It determines his long-term destiny and influences all his life henceforth if he is. BUT it neither qualifies him or disqualifies him from being POTUS. For that I see total, even scary, lack of qualifications for the job. I just got my hip replaced, a work best left to someone qualified to do it, which I did.
We’ve been praying for Mr. Trump and all of the other candidates all along -INCLUDING the Democrat ones as well as our current President and his family. God desires none should perish! Time will tell. My impression has been that, thus far, Mr. Trump will say whatever he needs to say to whomever wants to hear it. "All that to say: vote for Trump if you want to vote for Trump. Vote for him if you legitimately believe what he’s passing off as a policy agenda is good for America. But don’t vote for him because you’ve bought his transparent, pandering shtick that he’s a good Christian. Trump is trying on the Christian faith the way other politicians try on a hard hat when they visit a construction site for a photo op: it’s obviously not his own, and he looks dumb wearing it." (Jan. 19, 2016 http://rare.us/story/trump-has-said-many-things-about-christianity-that-are-way-worse-than-two-corinthians/)
You are judging if you have doubts. Anyone that ask Christ in their heart will be saved. Now let God do His work.
Well said about Donald Trump. All Christians should be praying for the Donald instead of criticizing him. Let us get on our knees and repent for our attitude. God has put him here for a time such as this. AMEN AND AMEN
Trump is ANTI Christ… Get your heads out of your hind parts. He’s going straight to hell and trying to take this country with him. There’s no difference in him and Killary.
We are not the ones to say he has not accepted the Lord. It is my opinion, you cannot be around Dr. Ben Carson, and not believe and accept the Lord. WATCH CLOSELY, when Dr. Carson talks about God. He looks as if he has the light of GOD ALL AROUND HIM.
Especially when he says I am flying home for a change of clothes to mislead people then lie about it..
Hate much?
UGH, The weight of all these comments is exactly why I left the Evangelical/ Fundamentalist church. None of this shows God’s love. Put your sights on him, not your fellow man. Stop the judging, please. It is God’s job and responsibility to pass judgement. Not ours. We are to pray for all. Those who are without sin throw the first stone. I’m sure if we all did as Christ commanded us, we would have quite a pile of rocks of our own.
Right on. I can understand why one would leave, Kathy. There is a great deal of reverse bigotry, intolerance and hatred going on these days – and it’s shameful. The level of hatred and hypocrisy from folks on both sides of the issue is outright disgusting. America needs a bath, and that’s why The National Week of Repentance is so vital. Let’s spread the word by pointing folks to http://www.RevivalMatters.com and @RevivalMatters. So grateful for your comments!
I Corinthians 5:11-13. This verse is a great start to understand the difference between judging and being judgemental.
i have a huge problem with this information being shared by anyone except the person! i admire james dobson very much, but i am very disappointed that he has shared this information in any kind of public forum! when a person decides to pray to receive Christ, they need time to grow and mature outside of the spotlight. when they are ready to pass on the informations, they can do it.
the only motive i can see why anyone needs to tell others that someone has done this is to either add a notch to their belt or to help a political cause ( in the case of a political candidate.) neither of which is a good motive for God’s glory:(
please, please, could we just allow new christians their privacy until they are able to handle the limelight?
Did you actually read my blog, or simply comment on the headline? If you truly read my blog, you will see exactly why I published the interview I did – and understand that the real issue is not really Mr. Trump at all. . .
I worked for Dr. Dobson for 15 years. He’s a good man, but terribly gullible and naive. Color me skeptical.
Then, if you are a Christian, why did you slander him in public, here? That’s exceptionally inappropriate.
Mayhaps he did and mayhaps he didn’t. That is for God to say. My question is, has James Dobson accepted Christ. Mayhaps not! It is for God alone to judge the intents and purposes of the heart. Not you, Mr. Dobson.
You are responding from hate not love
You need Jesus!
We all need Jesus.
Check out Jesus Therapy: The Best Advice Money Can’t Buy on Amazon…it will help you understand and successfully navigate these troubling times…
This is very clever… you’re challenging the faith of those who need to see the evidence. But the Bible reassures us that we will know them by their fruits. It would be irresponsible for us to believe that this man, who’s been a mountain of vulgarity for decades, has changed before we see the evidence. If he’s changed, we’ll know right away.
I’m not challenging in that way at all. If you read my blog post on the subject, with my thoughts, you will see that.
Dobson must be the biggest chump on the face of the earth. How sad.
Well you just showed what you believed didnt you? I not judgeing. I responding to your short statement
If we are praying for Trump because he may be the next President I find it amazing that there is no thought of praying for the current President or Hillary Clinton who may be the next President. Some of your fellow christians are disheartened by the way you ministers are peddling politics. May the Lord help the church in America.
Greg , LA
I have indeed not only encouraged people to pray for Hillary, but also led such prayers at my church. I have also openly taught about 1 Timothy 2:1-2, and the need to pray for ALL leaders, accordingly. And, Hillary has been invited to a similar meeting with Evangelicals, as was Trump. She has yet to reply. Equal time for all. Objectivity. This is what I am offering.
Yes, we’re supposed to pray for the leaders of the nation. Donald Trump is not one of them. He’s a former reality TV host with delusions of grandeur.
He likely never will be. But if he does, we can pray for him then. Until then, why don’t you encourage us to pray for our actual leaders?
I have done exactly that. Listen to the message I preached on that topic, called "America, Christians and the End Times." You an find it here: http://www.godfactor.com/audio/life-of-christ-91-america-christians-the-end-times. Trump is a former reality TV host and the current GOP Presidential candidate. That makes him a leader, although he does not have an official title. Does he have delusions of grandeur? It seems so. What is a Christian to do for such a man? Pray for him. Certainly, if Christ commanded we pray for our enemies it would be appropriate for you to #prayfortrump and #prayforamerica.
Michael, the Scripture is "pray for kings," not reality TV hosts. TV personalities are not leaders.
He’s not even my enemy. He doesn’t even get that much credit. He’s nobody. He’s of zero consequence. If he gets elected that will change.
"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way." 1 Tim 2:1-2
Dobson and the "advisory board" can pray for Trump, because apparently Trump matters to them enough for them to associate with him. I have real things to do.
Oh Nate, how can you say that Trump is a Nobody and of zero consequence. Jesus died for Mr. Trump as much as He died for you! He attended Norman Vincent Peale’s church for many years and was positively influenced by Rev. Peale, and if now Trump gave his heart to Jesus, ALL his past sins have been forgiven, but change takes time. And once somebody gives their heart to Jesus, they become Royalty because when we give our hearts to Jesus we become a Child of God, the King of Kings! That’s why we, born again Christians are Royalty and so is Donald Trump if he gave his heart to Jesus. In the Bible God used very sinful people to do His work. What makes you think that God can’t use Trump to do God’s work in our nation? I believe that Donald Trump will win, because he is being so persecuted by all the politicians, and many people will be baffled and surprised, but when God puts his hand on somebody, that person can turn things around and do mighty things. I am faithfully expecting to see God at work. Besides how can ANY BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN vote for a Pro-Abortionist like Hillary Clinton! If nothing else, Donald Trump is a PRO-LIFER and that is the greatest requirement I need to vote for him!
Norman Vincent Peale is a heretic.
I’m not saying Trump is a nobody in God’s eyes, I’m saying that for the purpose of my prayer life, he’s doesn’t even register. I don’t know him, and he’s not a leader.
You need to reflect on the fact that disgust with Donald Trump (which is completely warranted for any morally aware Christian) does not equal voting for for Hillary Clinton.
Also, we have no idea if Donald Trump is pro-life. He’s never done anything to show it. He’s never kept the same opinion for very long. He’s completely untrustworthy in everything he says, reversing his positions the same day depending on who he needs to please. He’s a known charlatan- from his fake University, to his tweeting of false, inflammatory racial data. He’s a dictator-in-waiting who admires Putin, Mussolini, and Kim Jong Un.
I noticed you didn’t say "God can use sinful people" about Hillary Clinton. I wonder why that is. How bad do you have to be before that statement stops applying?
I certainly hope he gives his heart to Jesus, but there’s no evidence showing that, so you’ll excuse me if I err on the side of NO, he did not. He’s a politician trying to impress a demographic. As all politicians are when they make loud and public statements about their faith.
Be very careful in your criticisms of people that you do not fail to pray, with all humility, for the salvation and sanctification of their souls. It’s easy to criticize, but humble prayer is the sign of a man or woman who is truly surrendered to God.
Pray for America. http://www.RevivalMatters.com. We need a real move of God throughout our nation. Let’s pray toward that end. Thank you so much for commenting and please come back and tell others to do the same.
You and your site, as well as Dr. Dobson, should be ashamed of propagating your own projection of whether Trump has accepted Christ. Instead, may we hear from Trump himself what he really believes?
I hope we do hear it from him – but more importantly, I hope we see a change. In the meantime, however, I am not ashamed for reporting this – and providing my commentary. If you read my blog about it, I think you will appreciate what I have to say as it pertains to far more than merely Mr. Trump.
Praising the Lord for this decision and will be praying for Donald Trump!!
Mr. James Dobson, please advise me exactly What Donald Trump has done to convince you he is a "Born Again Christian". Has he shown temperance in his attitudes regarding women? Has he renounced his past behaviors of slander, outright lies, greed, arrogance, bigotry, and everything about him that is the opposite of God’s word and Your Teachings? Thousands to millions of people look to you for guidance. By endorsing Trump you have, as God’s disciple, certified to the world Trump is to be trusted because his soul is right. As a "new" Christian, shouldn’t Trump be the Most on fire for God, in word And action? A man’s relationship with God should be seen in his actions, and should not have to be sold by your words. You, Sir, have a responsibility to God and mankind, as a disciple (God’s messenger), to lead His people to bring more to God’s service, not to support a man. God’s servants are to be In this world Not Of it.
Please, cite anything Trump is doing which is in keeping with, "what would Jesus do". As a servant of God, I am here to wage a battle to bring souls to God, not to be concerned about promoting the win of a candidate. (So should all who profess to serve God be.) I am a servant of God Before being a Republican, and as such, I cannot support a Republican candidate who is the Antithesis of God’s word and Biblical instructions. The responsibility of millions is on Your soul because by whitewashing Trump’s behavior, you are asking God’s children to accept and endorse him, thus selling their souls to Satan, if you are wrong. May God forgive you if you have become a false prophet in the promotion of a political agenda!
James Dobson, are you serious?
Even if Trump really had the Holy Spirit work in him to convict him, as a new Christian, I wouldn’t be cutting him any slack in his run for the presidency. If anything, I wouldn’t be putting a new Christian in the presidency. If we applied the standards stated in Titus to Donald Trump, he wouldn’t be chosen as a church elder, much less a president.
There’s not enough time to see the Fruits of the Spirit manifest.
And why does he want to become a Christian? When my 8 y.o. daughter said she wanted to be baptised, I let her ask me three times over a few weeks. And then I asked her "Why do you want to be baptised?". "Because I want to be a friend of Jesus". Did James ask Donald why he wanted to accept Jesus and Lord and Saviour. Given where his polls are at, Donald is more likely to look to Manafort as his Lord and Saviour.
I am very disappointed with James Dobson that he would Trump-et a conversion like this. Gullible.
May the power of our Sovereign Lord Jesus Christ Lord of Lords the God of our universe place His mighty hands on Donald Trump and put a hedge of protection around him and his family. No weapons formed against him will prosper. I pray for Mr Trump, Lord for your continued blessings be upon him and I also pray for our nation and may Your will dear God of all be done here to glorify you in worship. Thank you Heavenly Father in Jesus name..Amen
Mr. Anthony and Dr. Dobson, how could you be so gullible as to believe anything this pandering snake oil salesman tells you?
Michael, I would like to see you write on Hillary Clinton’s devotion to Christ. Otherwise your emphasis on Trump and Dr. Dobson’s remarks makes you seem like you have another agenda….
Yes! And add #prayforHillary and #prayforObama, not just #prayforTrump and #prayforAmerica.
Outstanding! Way to go.
I had to give up reading the comments. Most of you disappoint me, a great deal. Your comments (and I think you know who you are) leave me cold and feeling sorry for you because you’re lost. Leave the judging to the One upstairs and start praying.
SOMEONE SAID TRUMP ACCEPTED JESUS – – YOU MEAN TRUMP IS GOING TO STOP CORRUPTING CITIES WITH HIS GAMBLING CASINOS, ALLOWING HARD CORE PORN EVENTS THERE, THAT HE REPENTED HIS ADULTEROUS AFFAIRS, THE HE FIGHTS AGAINST HOMOSEXUALITY, ABORTION AND MEN IN THE WOMAN’S BATHROOM – AND HIS WIFE REPENTED HER PORN- YOU KNOW BETTER THAN TO BELIEVE IN AN UNREPENTANT SNAKE – NO JESUS UNTIL REPENTANCE OF SIN – Restore Christ and State- here is how – articleviii.wordpress.com
Maybe so. #prayfortrump and #prayforamerica.
Evangelicals stump for trump not because the businessman is a Christian, but because Christianity is a business.
You have all been bamboozled.
A report is not an endorsement, Zorn.
You claim to be giving an unbiased report, but you comments make your bias very clear.
I am biased for a real movement of God, and respect the LORD enough to know that I don’t know a man’s heart. I don’t know if anything happened to Trump recently – and neither do you. If you are a Christian, pray for him and pray for our nation like you’ve never prayed before. And if you aren’t a Christian, then please realize that you are not in a position to provide advice to any Christian. I gave answers based on the truth of what I could honestly answer and what I couldn’t.
You’d like to think so.
So vote for Hillary? I mean come on, Zorn. Different day, same unreasonable hate.
I don’t know if Mr Trump excepted Christ or not. Only him and God know. My prayer is that he has. My prayer is if he hasn’t, that he does. For his eternal security is first and foremost my mind. As mentioned before by Pastor Mike the change in his life will be a gradual one. I for one will be praying for Mr Trump!
Right on, Mike! #prayfortrump #prayforamerica
I am thrilled for anyone to want Jesus in their lives. God always is there for us all. I am Roman Catholic and my heart and soul pray that America pray and repent as we have a great deal to do in spreading the Good News. Without Jesus we will go down. Praise to you for spreading His love. Our hope is in the name of The Lord! God Bless you!
Right on, Joanne!
Mr. Anthony: You deliberately ignore Trump’s lifetime of stealing money from the poor: Gambling; wrecking homes, causing divorces, peddling flesh, extra-marital affairs, strip clubs; his three marriages, four bankruptcies, using courts to remove rent-protected tenants from their homes.
You sir are at best a criminal and hate America as much as the Media.
Paul, I didn’t ignore anything. This is not a commentary on Trump’s life. It’s a news report of a breaking interview. Before you comment, please read first. Thanks.
Whether or not Trump accepted Christ will be shown in his way of life and actions. I do know that if Trump accepted Christ that all of the sins you mentioned will be forgiven and forgotten by Jesus Christ. I do believe that the scriptures report that all of these sins were committed by various people in the gospels and Christ forgave them after they believed but the Pharisees were there in some instances to remind the ones that were forgiven of what they had done. Be more like Jesus not the Pharisees.
You obviously don’t understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And u obviously haven’t read 1 Timothy 1:12-16. I was lost and the chief of sinners, and now, because of Christ in me, the Hope of Glory, and His faithful direction in my true repentance, I am a new creation. The same goes for ALL. Even Trump. Amen
SOUNDS GOOD…Pray for Trump and this election and America….repentance is the key..http://towerwebsites.com/bam357
Amen! #prayfortrump #prayforamerica
Amen and amen! God can do anything. All you have to do is pray for Him to enter your heart
and live for Him every minute of your life.
If you have Jesus, you need nothing else. Amen
Yes, He absolutely can do anything! Right on Karen!
I’m not sure I have ever seen anyone announce the salvation of someone else like this. I cant help but to think this is a political endorsement. I pray its true and that Trump comes out himself to publicly profess. Otherwise, these are just words.
I hear you and I agree. I hope it is true as well. #prayfortrump #prayforamerica
I have been praying for Mr Trump for 3 years. May Christ take hold of his heart and mind
Way to go. We all need prayer, especially leaders.
It is best that Donald Trump trust Jesus now, since his life has recently been in danger. Once a person is President, I would hope that they would be humbled to trust in God’s guidance to seek godly answers and direction for the country. I was thrilled to hear the news of Donald Trump getting closer to faith in Christ weeks ago, and the latest reports were expected. Continue to pray for all who are running for political positions that they will seek God’s will in their lives to uphold the Constitution and live righteously.
Thank you for your comments and your humility. They are refreshing.
You say Donald Trump accepted Jesus. Well good for him. Did you know that you can not be a member of the Ku Klux Klan unless you’re a Christian? Sometimes I wonder about the churches and it’s members.
I wonder as well. But I also know it’s important to pray for our enemies, and to love them, too. And, for the record, I did not say Trump accepted Jesus. I reported the story and that is all.
A big no on the KKK requirement to be "a Christian." They can "require" it, but what is it they are really requiring? Claiming to own Christianity as one’s religion does not actually make one a Christian. A Christian is one who follows Christ, who has been born of the Spirit. Cultural Christianity is a sham. One cannot be a follower of Christ and remain totally hate-filled. The Holy Spirit will begin to drive out the inner darkness. That is if one is in truth a genuine Christian and not just in name, only.
What ignorance! What the Klan calls Christianity has no resemblance to true Christianity. There are very few churches where the Klan would feel welcome at.
I am amazed at all the negative/condemning comments by so-called Christians. Ever hear of humility? God has chosen Trump to clean up Washington, DC of all the corruptions. He was raised in Christian home and is a Christian! Prophecy of Trump as our next President:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zt7_KaPoybI
No, most Christians don’t have humility on their radar at all. It’s been divorced from Christianity, and it’s sad indeed. Thank you for sharing!
Jerry –
1 – "so-called" Christians? Really? Are you qualified to judge whether one is or is not a Christian? On the basis of a FB Post???
2 – do you speak for God? Who is to say who God has chosen? Using your own logic, then God has chosen Obama, if by winning an election God shows He has chosen that individual.
3 – from your Comment, I’m not feeling a lot of humility on your part, yet you lament the lack of humility in others.
4 – this comment is neither negative or condemning but is simply my opinion -which I assume you’ll agree I have the right to express. Just pointing out some flaws I see in your logic.
Father let us be obedient to your word and be Jesus in the flesh for everyone
Father let us be obedient to your word and be Jesus in the flesh for everyone
Indeed I believe with all my heart. I pray for our government officials. I pray for God’s deliverance from the evil one. It’s not for us to judge nor question. As Christians we should stand strong with courage cause we know God is in control ALL THE TIME. Praying for Mr. Donald Trump.
Of course Donald Trump recently accepted Christ.
Just like he was suddenly and deeply moved to visit the 9/11 Memorial located 7 miles from Trump Tower for the first time in his life… 14 years after 9/11. And to give $100,000… all in the week that New York voted in its Presidential primary election.
To say that Trump has "accepted Christ" doesn’t make him more capable of being a good president, if elected. And Hillary, if asked, would tell you she is a Christian & has been since her youth… She was active in her church youth group and served in leadership postions as a teen…
We do not have a theocracy in this country. There is no religious test necessary to hold elected office. Quite the contrary. Our law provides for the separation of church & state. Religion is not a qualifier or disqualifier when running for the office of president.
I am a Christian who doesn’t think that merely being a Christian qualifies anyone to be president of the U.S. I would expect, instead, to look for qualifications showing knowledge and preparation for the job one performs as president. Understanding the intracacies of our country’s domestic and foreign policy is crucial in a president. Having a legal background is helpful. Having previously held elected office is normally expected, just to mention a few.
If Trump is a Christian, fine. Just don’t use this possibility to try to make him appear more viable or acceptable as a presidential candidate.
One last comment – I am puzzled by how the religious right of the Republican party has managed to co-opt Christianity as something that is theirs and theirs alone. Many Democrats are practicing Christians as well. Just be aware that you can be a Christian whether you vote as a Democrat or a Republican. We all could benefit by trying to look past the labels we wear and attempt to interact across party lines with respect and a willingness to understand each other.
I don’t think the religious right of the Republican party have co-opted Christianity as "theirs". I think that followers of Christ consciously chose the more conservative platform because they couldn’t fully support the liberality of the left. It’s just that simple.
From my perspective, I cannot support abortion and I cannot support the unconstitutionality of redefining marriage. Of course I disagree with other left wing policies as well, but these two are the "dealbreakers" for me.
Well said. Very well said!
Very intelligently stated! Thank you so much and please return and tell others about our blog.
As a Christian, the greed and pride exhibited by the majority of conservative leaders far outweighs the sins of liberals for me. It is not for Christians to judge their actions, but to try and make the world a better place – I do not support abortion in any way, but I would rather help create a world where so many poor young mothers do not feel the need to end their babies’ lives, and where churches support an aid even the most ardent sinners, than work with the devil and still fail to help those women and their children… That is more likely to happen with a government that invests in education, in poverty relief, and the like, and liberal candidates are the ones who will do that.
Adam, a world where so many poor young mothers do not feel the need to end their babies’ lives would be one in which women are discouraged from education and careers and taught that their highest aspirations would involve being a wife and mother. President Obama is expressly determined to prevent this sort of situation from returning.
My spirit grieves at the comments written below. To those who judge the heart of Mr. Trump, who lay claim that the idea of Mr. Trump giving his life to Christ is a ruse! How can God use a person such as him you say! Have you read your Bible; do you understand the type of people that God uses for His kingdom work? Look at Saul (Paul), look at David ( a man after God’s own heart), look at Moses (he killed a man), look at Abram (a child out of wedlock). God uses whom He chooses! Do not tear down what God has built up, continue to pray for Mr. Trump that God will reveal Himself to him, that He will make known to him Himself. This nation needs leadership that will counsel with God, leadership that will stand in the gap for the people of this nation that have turned their backs to God. If that leader to be raised up is Donald Trump then ‘Praise be to God,’ but if it should show itself not to be then I encourage you to fall upon your knees before the Lord and pray that He raise up that leader. Stop complaining, stop judging, stop with the hateful/hurtful remarks and use the energy you have wasted on such things to pray! Pray, Pray, Pray and while you are at it confess your own sins that you may be heard by God, confess the sins of this nation, confess the sins of your fathers for the generations of false teachings and abandonment that has enveloped this nation. Our children us to pray, our parents need us to pray, our ‘good’ friends and neighbors need us to pray, this nation who now serves a master who seeks to destroy her needs you to pray! Pray for those who seek to destroy us, those whom you consider your enemies, pray for the lost, pray for mercy! Do not seek the ear of man to make yourself known but seek the ear of the Lord God!
You understand. It’s not about Trump. It’s about each of us and where we stand with Christ.
Praise God! Nation lets get on our knees! Pray for Trump and fast! He is a baby Christian and we’ve all been there. God has selected trump for such a time as this!
I tape Turning Point every Sunday &Sun.June 26.I am Quit sure I saw Trump in the audience.I rolled it back, stopped and asked My husband"Is that Trump?"and he said"it looks like Him,but he doesn’t have any bodyguards with him." So I wonder…….it was at Madison Square Garden-theater.
With our nation evicting Jesus from schools, government, and the media, I really don’t expect the mainstream media to shed any true light on what’s transpired here. From what individuals that have been in Donald Trump’s presence have revealed, it’s nothing like what the world want’s us to think. I will be praying for God’s will in this election. It seems to me that those who have sat in the White House that weren’t career politicians had the nation’s interest at heart, and not the political machinery. No wonder the career politicians are up in arms over his success in this area. I firmly believe that if you want a thorough check on your genealogy, run for a political office. Others will do the work for you. Since there is a newness that occurs when you accept Jesus into your heart, rummaging around in the trash, trying to tie a person’s past to their present is a waste of time. Having a candidate who embraces Jesus versus one who is hostile to Him is refreshing.
Exceptionally well said, Dr. Briggs!
Dr. John Briggs,
You’re delusional if you think that Donald Trump "has Jesus in his heart". What’s obvious even to the blind is that he’ll say anything and everything to promote himself and his business while saying anything and everything to attack his opposition. Trump has never cared about the truth or Jesus. Only a fool would be fooled by this fool. There is a GOD, Jesus son of Joseph was God-incarnate, and the Christ has returned to "judge everyone according to their actions."
Brad, if you want to post on our blog, you are welcome to do so – but if you resort to name-calling and speaking down to people, we won’t have it. Do you know Christ? If you do, you certainly are not representing Him well by your comments. And if you don’t, then who are you to talk about what spiritual growth looks like in a believer? Either way, you need to learn some manners or we simply won’t allow your toxic comments here. Simple as that.
Michael, every time you pejoratively ask a commenter that espouses an antagonistic view "Do you know Christ?", you yourself are being judgmental. Calling someone’s faith into question with such a loaded question as "Do you know Christ? If you do, you’re not reflecting him well! And if you don’t, your comments are not welcome here!" is an odd, impolite, and defensive way to respond. Your responses come across as arrogant and superior as you sit in judgment on a stranger’s faith.
Sara, I ask that question when someone has posted a rude comment and made derogatory statements that are unbecoming of someone who says they are a Christ "follower." If that is being judgmental, then I am ok with that bc I am purposely helping them see the inconsistency between their behavior and their confession. To allow someone to come onto our blog, which is our "living room," and to speak in negative ways of other people – while claiming to be a "Christian" – is something that we absolutely can and should do to keep our living room clean and to help commenters be accountable to what they post. We realize that people are not used to being accountable these days, but in our living room, our blog, people are accountable for their behavior. If people want to call themselves "Christian" and say rude things to other people, our calling them on the carpet for that is entirely appropriate and important in keeping the conversation clean and respectable. When folks step out of line, we step in and make sure that if the conversation is to continue it will continue on respectable terms. If not, then those individuals who won’t abide by common manners, who may claim to be "following" Christ, but betray such claims by their words, are not welcome.
You might do well to think of the blog as much more of a public space rather than such a personal space as your living room. And act accordingly. I see you have justified your responses. That is what I expected you to do. You are quite adept at self-justification it would seem. And I am saying this to you out of the exact same concern for your own sanctification that you espouse as the reason why you are justified in questioning a stranger’s salvation. Does that seem like too personal of a comment about you? That is what you are engaging in toward others when you speculate about someone’s salvation publicly. Blogs are absolutely public space.
We already do, and we encourage others to respect our responsibility to keep our living room clean, and act accordingly. We don’t only have an adult audience. And, even adults can work at communicating with tact and grace. It’s a sign of having a solid case. My sixth grade teacher used to tell us "keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them." By moderating our blog, and insisting that folks comment in respectable ways, we save folks from embarrassing themselves and others. Thanks for sharing and understanding.
"Gullible or Biblical?" Kinda begs the question, doesn’t it? James Dobson just blew a lifetime of credibility in a moment of short-term political desperation. Just like the man he’s now defending, Dobson is cynically assuming that most of his audience is either stupid or, at this point, desperate enough to believe anything he says. Remember +/-20 years ago how Bill Clinton and his surrogates could say all kinds of lies and half-truths and get lots of people to nod in agreement, at least temporarily? Didn’t that drive you up the wall? Now "our" side is doing the same thing. Wake up, people! We’re being used.
Please read the actual blog. It will help you understand that the real issue here is not Donald Trump. Read the blog, here: http://www.godfactor.com/blog/exclusive-interview-with-dr-james-dobson-did-donald-trump-recently-accept-christ
I did read the whole blog post. And listened to the interview two days ago. Dr. Dobson and his apparent surrogacy of Trump are exactly the story. This is exactly the kind of manipulation and speculative rhetoric that drives people away from the evangelical corner of Christianity. Pray for him, and if you don’t you’re not a good Christ follower? Pray for yourselves. That the scales would fall from your eyes. And for us all, if he should be elected. It is also biblical to be wise as serpents and innocent as doves, to recognize wolves in sheep’s clothing. And by that I mean Trump and anyone who would aid or abet him.
Thanks for your comments. Please read the blog again, because you don’t understand my point.
Amen!
You compare Trump to Saul? You are a shyster, willfully blind or on the take.
Are you a Christian? If you are, then you should be praying for Mr. Trump and not calling other people names. If you aren’t a Christian, then why bother? Pay attention to what you read and watch, because your comment reflects that you haven’t done so.
Wade, please understand that there is not One Human on the face of this earth that is any different -for better or worse- than the next. (Romans 3:23) Fortunately for us, however, God is Not a respecter of persons. (Acts 10:34) And there is no difference between One’s "Ministry" or "Calling" than that of any other Saint: We Are who we are, and we Do what we do, by the Grace of God -Christ Himself and The Holy Spirit empowering us (Ephesians 2:8-9; Philippians 2:13; 1 Corinthians 12). So we should All take the very same attitude of Paul’s, in that we are nothing. (1 Corinthians 3:7; 15:10)
So please, for
Written by a seasoned prophetic woman of God serving on the foreign field in the ME.

Many years ago I was quite active in politics, voting since I was of age, but that all stopped completely after the first George W. Bush election, when Father began showing me the reality of how both political parties are basically the same, controlled by those with the same evil agenda. I never imagined I could be writing something like this at this point, but after much research, prayer & contemplation, feel I must.
One month ago I was sent an email very strongly warning against Donald Trump as president of America. I was shocked & replied that what was written didn’t witness in my spirit at all, & had watched only a couple debates with numerous candidates that were still involved. I had no intention of following the whole fiasco, but then I was sent a second email about Trump, with totally different, but negative information. Now I felt inclined to look into this further, so spent many, many hours online, watching many debates, news programs, interviews with him, his wife & children, reading about his parents, siblings, ex-wives, & how it is he became who he is today. I have never been a "Trump" fan, knew very little about the man, had never watched his "Apprentice" program & had no desire or reason to investigate him, but was led to learn more because of the warnings.
I have seen & heard how Mr. Trump’s words have been twisted & quoted as something completely different than what was spoken many times. One example of this is the fact that he has stated that SOME of the "illegal immigrants" coming into the U.S.A. are rapists, criminals, which is why he wants to build a wall to keep them from walking in from Mexico & wherever else they’re coming from without undergoing the LEGAL process. Now any of you with common sense know this is the truth, but it’s been perverted to say that he is a "racist" who hates Mexicans, blacks, & many other people, which is totally FALSE. He wants to put a TEMPORARY ban on muslims coming into the country, because of all the terrorist attacks going on around the world, which is not because he hates these people, but because he wants to protect our country & the people in it, something any GOOD & honorable president would do.
I realize that Donald Trump tends to appear as a very bombastic loose canon at times, but if you dig deeper, he is an extremely intelligent, energetic, type A, workaholic, but loving & compassionate man, who is also an extreme patriot, who has watched the disintegration of our country, & believes with all his heart that he is capable of fixing it. He has been taking broken, dilapidated, malfunctioning buildings & other things for years & years, & now, as a man who will turn 70 years old in a few months, he wants to do with America what he has done so many times before. He is the ONLY candidate that is not OWNED by anyone else, is NOT part of the establishment, including Ted Cruz, who when I first saw him, not knowing anything about him, could only "see" slick, slithering, slimy snake with incredible, evil deception. I’m sorry to say this, as I’ve now learned that he claims to be a "Christian", but watched carefully how he avoided answering every question he was asked during the debates, & what he spewed at Trump showed his true colors & character, even as Marco Rubio, but more importantly, what I see in his countenance is why I say this. The candidates in the other party will only bring more of the same, the final destruction of what was once a great country.
The only candidate I believe is a truly born again believer, who lives according to scripture, is Dr. Ben Carson, who would have been my first choice in this race, but I want to share what I have been seeing.
As I sat here many times until 2, 3, & 4 o’clock in the morning, every day for nearly a month, watching & listening to many videos, reading many articles, wondering why at times my eyes welled up with tears, as I felt the Holy Spirit come upon me, praying for Donald Trump & that Father would protect him & his family, pleading with Him to open the eyes of the American people to know & love the truth, & obey Father’s will. I couldn’t believe what I was sensing, that the Almighty was willing to show mercy one last time, & have to admit that I felt like Jonah, asking why He should do this for the U.S.A., after years of warning about the judgment that’s already started, including those currently in the white house & all his minions that are in control of the government.
I am not saying this is a "thus says the Lord" word, but feel I must share what I keep "seeing" as I contemplate all of this. IF people would lay down their erroneous mindsets, listening to the lies & deception from others, IF they would earnestly pray & seek Father’s will, IF Donald Trump were elected president, IF he would select Dr. Ben Carson as the V.P., I believe there could be drastic change in America for the good of the land & the people. I "see" Dr. Carson whispering words of wisdom & truth into Mr. Trump’s ear, I "see" him showing Donald the unconditional love of the Father, & I "see" Donald’s pride being broken by the humility & genuine love of Ben, to the point of kneeling together in prayer & repentance, receiving true salvation, & leading the country in the same way. I’m not saying this is what is going to happen, because I believe I’ve been shown it’s ALL conditional on the prayers of the saints & their efforts, which I have to admit surprised me, as I thought it’s already decided. I do not send this email out lightly & have procrastinated doing it at all, because after being gone from our country for nearly 5 years, sometimes even embarrassed admitting where I’m from, had no hope that anything positive could happen at this late hour, but have to be honest & say that as I’ve listened, watched, prayed & thought, I felt a hope rising up in me that felt very strange because of what I’ve been shown for many years. I’m not saying judgment still won’t come, but Father’s revealed that He delights in mercy more than judgment, desires for true revival & for many to be brought into the Kingdom. I hope & pray that you will seriously take this to prayer, asking Father IF it could be so, & following what He shows you is His perfect will.
Love & Blessings,
Hephzibah
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Mr. Anthony for spreading the good news. I am grateful to see that God is still moving in America where many people have abandoned their faith. Crazy enough we can clearly see with the loss of spiritual truth we can also see the decline of the once greatest nation on the earth. Your statement on praying for all the leaders of this nation is critical at this vital time in history. Especially for the circus act we like to call our government. Thank you as well for having the courage of your convictions to post this information in spite of how many people were going to twist the purpose of this article and their negativity/persecution towards the church. Now for those of you who are against mixing church and politics. I have two questions for you. Have you not enjoyed the last bit of freedoms that still exist? Do you know how those freedoms came about? I’ll try to keep this short. King Henry VIII didn’t want to be checked by anyone so he could have absolute power. So he created his own church and ruled the roost and thus started the destruction of the people’s freedom that was given to about 5% of the people from the Magna Carta. Years have past and finally the new "defender of the faith," would be King Charles I. He bought in to the thought process that the king had divine rights. Luckily, Samuel Rutherford, stood up and declared lex rex.(Law over king) He was a Puritan and this group of believers got their principals of truth from The Bible! So eventually when Scotland invaded England the king had to call parliament to build an army. Well after years of bondage the people said only if you accept this "Petition of Rights." This document furthered the magna carta based off of the spiritual truths found in the Bible. Our God given rights in short. Eventually these documents get revised over and over until we finally get to our U.S. Constitution. Why all these revisions to the Magna Carta? History repeats itself. The people start out in bondage. They find courage when they know who they are and know spiritual truths. They rise up to fight and create massive abundance with the freedoms that these documents represented. The next generation or so forget how the wealth was made and the populous goes into a state of apathy. This goes on and on down to a nation of dependents. Which our country is definitely in a nanny state. Eventually through our ignorance and lack of virtue we go back into bondage. I wrote all that to write this. The church or spiritual truth will always need to be intertwined with politics. It is a check on our freedoms. These freedoms are based off of the laws of the Bible. The Bible was written by men inspired by the one and only true living God. So for goodness sake actually read this article and see that Michael Anthony is saying we all need to repent. Or to rethink how we are living our lives and pray for this nation. We need to stop hacking at the leaves and start at the roots which is the people of this nation. It starts in my home and in yours. God is working through Mr. Anthony not to promote Trump but to do what we are called to do and spread the gospel. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and salvation is for the person running for the top spot or the fellow lower on the totem pole. God bless America!!
Exceptionally well said. I am speechless. Thank you so much for your intelligent, well-articulated comments. Please return and tell others about us, too. We are trying. You rock!
When I remember back to when I accepted Christ as my savior I wasn’t raised in the church like Trump was. I eagerly read and applied scripture. I eagerly looked for reconciliation with anyone that I didn’t get along with who was also a Christian. Trump has been involved in a smear campaign against Ted Cruz and his family as recently as last month. Maybe Trump has accepted Christ as his savior in the last month but Trump also has a history of telling people what they want to hear. I will continue to pray for both Trump and Clinton. I will also look for signs that he has chosen to reconcile with the long list of people he’s wronged and that he starts to use the money he’s horded to make a difference in people’s lives.
Yes, let’s pray there is real change. And let’s pray with humility, realizing that none of us is perfect, either.
Folks, there was a sinner who was being crucified. Before he died, he asked Jesus to remember him. Now some folks would say he just said what he did just to have a hope of a better afterlife. But our Lord saw the intents of his heart and said "this day you will be with me in paradise". My point is we believers are not given the power to know what happened in his heart. We are instructed to love, pray, and disciple new believers. His fruit will give evidence in time.
Well said. Pray for Trump, everyone. Pray for America. And if you think that’s an endorsement of Trump, then you don’t get it. It’s an endorsement for God to move.
Dr. James Dobson: clueless nitwit or hypocrite? God knows.
That’s right. God knows. In the meantime, He also knows whether or not you are bitter and judgmental. Personal soul-searching is always very beneficial.
As a Minister I am VERY disappointed that Dr Dobson seemingly agreed to an interview with Michael Anthony knowing that what he said would be made public. I saw the interview with Michael on CNN when the Host asked him what was meant by "baby Christian"? Even though he did not give an answer, I feel both Michael & Dr. Dobson were totally out of order for uncovering Mr. Trump. The Bible says for us to "believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord". It did not state that someone else needs to broadcast for us. Now the liberal Media has it and will have yet again another twisted thing to belittle Trump with. I think both Michael & Dobson need to ask God’s forgiveness, Trump’s forgiveness and forgiveness for the blemish that has been placed on the whole the Body of Christ. I, like all Christians everywhere believe that Salvation was granted to Mr. Trump & we need to all pray for him on a daily basis but he doesn’t need this kind of remarks to deal with. I’m sure both men felt sincere in letting us all know this truth but never should we take it on our own to make such public without the approval of the person involved and certainly not during this heated campaign that is looking constantly for ANYTHING to hit Trump with.
Stay tuned, Doris, because I will be writing this week about why I chose to publish the interview. I think it was absolutely the right thing to do for various reasons that I will share.
1 Timothy 3
1 This is a trustworthy saying: If anyone aspires to be an overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 An overseer, then, must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not dependent on wine, not violent but gentle, peaceable, and free of the love of money.
4 An overseer must manage his own household well and keep his children under control, with complete dignity. 5 For if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how can he care for the church of God? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same condemnation as the devil. 7 Furthermore, he must have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the snare of the devil.
Yes, these scriptures apply for an overseer of a church, elsewhere referred to in the Bible as "elders". Thanks for sharing them.
If Trump was only running to be a church elder, I could go to another church.
Maybe so, but I would hope you would continue to pray for his sanctification. If you are a believer, you genuinely care about others, and you . . . pray for them.
I highly respect Jim Dobson’s integrity, but Christ in us is not to be an adornment to our ambitions. He’s to be the center-post of our character.
As you’ve noted, it took Saul several years (Galatians 2:17-18) after his initial encounter with Jesus Christ, before he was ready for the assignment that God had for him.
PERHAPS (and this is an ol’ pastor speaking) it’s not so wise for us evangelicals to want to prop Trump up into the most demanding job in the world as a "baby-Christian"…? How many of us would vote to immediately thrust any new believer into even being the president of our own congregations?
PERHAPS what our new brother in Christ needs most (aside from resounding intercession) is solid, counsel that encourages him to exercise some of the humility that flows from having "taken up the cross" (Luke 9:23) and having “died with Christ” (Romans 6:8); graciously yield the nomination to someone who can win in 2016, and come back in 4 years, or 8 years as an prepared leader of honor; a trophy of God’s transformational grace.
Blessings.
Yes indeed. Very well said. He needs prayer for sure. Hillary does, too. But the context of praying for Mr. Trump is in the issue of whether or not he "recently" gave his life to Christ. If that is true, then he needs a particular kind of prayer suitable to a new believer. And, for those who will no doubt be angry that I am calling for us to pray for him, as if that is an endorsement, you still don’t get it. Right on, JS. Right on, and thank you so much for posting.
I have read a number of the posts in here, regarding Trumps’ Conversion, and while we all have reason to speculate -even the Saint’s, with Good reason, doubted Paul’s conversion- we should Not allow this situation to be used as a means of verbal attack on others. That does not honor God.
However, we should not be so naive as to lower our guard either. The Scriptures are very Clear that we are to Judge those within the Body of Christ; and to be diligent in prayer. Thanking God in All things. Knowing that He works out All things to His Glory.
So, whether this is a ploy of Satan’s; or whether it is genuinely an act of The Almighty, Our GOD is indeed The LORD of Lords, and KING of Kings. It is He Who moves the hearts and minds of the kings -as He moves the waters in the hollow of His hand- according to His good pleasure. Which means that we, as His children, are responsible for nothing more than praying that His will be done. Humbling ourselves….
Well said, Steve. The reverse-bigotry and hatred is astounding. We are to be people of prayer, not hatred.
I think this is absolutely wonderful news that Trump has found a relationship with Jesus Christ – What I don’t understand is WHY people are so obsessed with WHO led him to the Lord!!! Just pray for him to grow in his new found faith because the devil is going to do all he can to distract him!!! ?
Yes, pray for him. He needs it no matter where he stands with Christ.
Mr. Dobson has done Mr. Trump and the conservative movement a great disservice to publicize this news, even if it is true. At a time when our nation hangs in the balance, Mr. Trump is running for the highest office in the land. The enemy will use this news to chill off politically conservative voters who are not Christians and who see Christianity as useless or unimportant or even questionable. It could cost him many, many votes in the election. It was Mr. Trump’s personal right to announce such a decision when he chose to, not Mr. Dobson’s. This announcement, while wonderful news, really pisses me off. Grow up, for Pete’s sake, Mr. Dobson. Be happy for Trump, yes, but keep your mouth shut. Unless you had Mr. Trump’s permission to make such an announcement, you should have kept your mouth shut.
I think there is an opportunity here, bc of the interview, to pray and engage in healthy discussions about what it really means to follow Christ than there would have ever been if the interview was not posted. One such thing that has become obvious is that people who claim to know Christ – to be following Jesus Christ – have a tremendous amount of bitterness, hate and anger. All such things are to be put to death. The real issue that has surfaced from all of this is not Mr. Trump, but every single person who claims to know Christ, and their conduct, accordingly.
I’m glad to hear this. And I hope Mr. Trump pays particular attention to Matthew 19:23-24.
ALL have sinned & found short of the glory of God …. if God can save me, He can save anyone!! Who do we think we are that we can try and understand the ways of God when they are so far above our ways? If Donald Trump has accepted Jesus as Saviour, it will be at the most difficult part of his life to make a turn-around. Only God can arrange that!! And Jesus will be glorified, maybe not today, but He will be glorified!! I’m excited to see what the next few years bring in Donald’s life, politically or otherwise. I’m always excited to see what God can do when He’s brought into the picture. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If ANY man opens the door ….. " I’m not American, not necessarily even a Trump supporter, but I am a believer in the power of Jesus Christ!!
Well said!
My prayer is that the Lord reach Trump’s heart and mind quickly and leads him to act and speak in a more Christ-like manner.
oh my goodness, this is insane. How hard are you Christians working this time to make the circle fit the square? you are just determined to justify why you are voting for a bigoted, insane, ego-eccentric crazy person. WWJD? not vote for donald trump. not be deceived by propaganda. not hate others because of their religion. James dobson/robertson/fallwell you are all disgusting individuals, and anybody who follows hate monger’s is a hate mongerer. you are not doing the will of "God", you don’t even have the faintest idea of what God really could be. educate yourselves before it is too late and something irreversible happens.
Cam, if you are a Christ-follower, let us encourage you to follow more closely. If you know WWJD, then a good place to start is with yourself, bc Jesus would not be calling other Christians "insane, ego-centric" and "crazy," as you are. If you are not a Christian, then may we suggest that you kindly bow out of the discussion, bc remaining in it would be out of place for you. Again, read the blog and listen to the actual interview.
its nice to see the author up and down the comments column, (which he obviously moderates) making sure that only 1 point of view is discussed. trump is really a christian and we ought to pray and for him. doesn’t even awknowledge the fact that the Bible itself, (which this person claims to belive in?) warns about putting people with the character of Donald Trump a position of authority. Nice propaganda blog
Well, that’s actually incorrect. 🙂 The author is not the only moderator on this blog. The purpose of the blog and the interview, which you clearly did not read or listen to, is to inform and then challenge people to think and pray. Listen to the interview and read the blog, so that when you comment, it will make sense and be pertinent.
Wow. I love it. Obama’s and Hilary’s claims of faith aren’t too be believed but Trump, well, we just need to take him at his word. Just when I don’t think the religious right in America can sink in lower…
Well, Drew, he hasn’t spoken about it yet, has he? Read my blog and listen to the actual interview. You will see that my point and purpose is to keep the issue where it needs to be – which is much, much bigger than Mr. Trump or Mrs. Clinton. To make it anything else is to miss the point, which you have already begun to to.
The two fish guy.Brother if you are a christain, you think Barry and the Witch are saved with their thoughts I think you better check your heart out 2 cor 13:5 this WHY America has found our selfs in the mess we are now.2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Well, if you are a Christian, there is no need to refer to the President and the presumptive Democrat nominee in the derogatory way you are. And, to refer to me as the "two fish guy." Ironic that you are calling for humility, 2 Chron 7:14 and not modeling it yourself.
There is NO way that Trump is born-again. Why? Because of his behavior and how he talks. When I became saved over about 40 yrs. ago there was a change inside, I felt it immediately. I continue to grow in understanding the Bible but there was a change in how I talked, felt, treated others. Although I never talked about people like he does, it made me aware of what people were saying and doing. Anyone can say they are born-again, it becomes a reality when they start walking the walk and talking the talk. Trump is not anywhere close to it.
I think this whole thing provides each of us, and all of America, an opportunity to examine what it really means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. I am thankful that my spontaneous interview provides an opportunity for all of us to really take a close look at what so many assume. Thanks, HEYWWJD for your comments!
You have covered one critical point (that we are to fervently pray for our leaders and celebrate ANY person’s coming to Christ whether or not it seems a dubious claim) but completely disregarded another crucial point. Whether or not Trump’s conversion is real or not, which it’s probably not but it would be great if it were, his track record of railing against the most marginalized people and pandering to the most powerful is so antithetical to EVERY single one of Christ’s teachings, that it is blatantly obvious that the ONLY thing evangelical leaders who are now supporting him care about is POWER. They are more concerned with gaining the top officials good graces so that they can have a piece of the political pie. It is not Trump I am appalled at. It is so called leaders of the faith who espouse Jesus as King and yet have done nothing but stand for greed, bigotry and hate for the last twenty years and are now aligning themselves with a man who has never spent a single moment looking or acting like Jesus. THAT is the problem. They are the reason people are leaving America’s sick brand of Chrisitanity in droves and the reason I am often found backpeddling when I espouse to be a Christian. Repentance is needed from all of us, especially those who are leading the charge in the public sphere. Talk about THAT.
Very, very well said. Thank you for commenting, Karen!
O hope and pray that he did. I pray for him to gain strength in Christ and not to listen to the people who will probably start mocking, etc. Pray America pray!!!
Only the Lord knows, I pray that Trump truly did accept Christ and that every Christian does their part and prays for Trump, his family and our country daily. Believing that we are going to see him grow from a baby Christian to a strong solid leader in Christ sand of our country. Also that accusers research all details, don’t just believe the media without doing true research.
Yes and Praying for Hilary too! We truly need to as she could also become President!!!!
My question: how can Mr. Trump claim that he is a Christian when he said on national television that he has never confessed, nor felt a need to confess (he’s always right). Isn’t this antithetical to the Christian faith. I will pray for both candidates.
That is an excellent question that only Mr. Trump can really answer. However, Dr. Dobson said that he "recently" accepted Christ. IF that is true (and I do not know), the implication is that this is a new development in his life, not something that is retroactive. Again, I do not know. I simply did the interview and reported on it.
Since Mr. Trump made that comment several months ago, God can do anything. He was honest (not arrogant) when asked the the question.I saw it with my own eyes. I have been praying for him for months and I have watched his speeches from around the country for the same amount of time. If you can not see a difference in his demeanor, you are either, not looking close enough or you need to quit watching the liberal MSM media who tells nothing but lies because they are all backing Hillary. I think that praying for Hillary is a good idea, (pray she doesn’t win) but she is a part of the NWO agenda and supports the North American Union, which is a part of United Nations One World Government religion, and monetary system which is described in the Bible.
If you truly are a Christian, step up your faith and believe that God is in control and CAN do ANYTHING!!! No, we can’t stop end times, but God can have Mercy on us all and delay it momentarily so that more can be saved. We have not even begun to have Revival in this country. Do not give up brother!
Taby: You will only see what you (so desperately) want to see. If your eyes are really open, you will see the Truth.
I believe we must pray that Truth and Justice once again Reign in America- and each of us must do our part to glorify the Lord with our own honesty and fervent humble prayers.
Matthew 7: 16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them……….I haven’t seen a politician yet that didn’t claim they were a Christian.
Well said.
I am very surprised and disappointed in the tone of many of the comments posted.
They will know we are Christians by our LOVE.
Well said.
Hey Michael. I can see you are moderating with a tight GOP hand. Actually the last active Christian we had in the White House was Jimmy Carter but you guys sold out your beliefs to support someone who, to put it all very, very briefly, was never a member of a church in his adult life (until he left the White House) and could not even give a definition on what being "Born Again" meant. And he never did anything on any of your pet projects. (I’m most aware of high the Falwell/Patterson group "took over" the SBC and now look!- it is dying on the political vine also.)
Hope you get a lot of hits for your web-site. You can decide whether your rewards are here on Earth or in Heaven.
Well, now you know we actually don’t. 🙂 But we have been hit with quite a few trolls and folks pushing their own agenda. Pretty much all comments that have come in have been posted – unless they use profanity or are over-the-top sarcastic. I’m not particularly concerned about the faith of the person who gets into the Oval Office. Your observation of Jimmy Carter serves as a good reminder. My comments have been, and will continue to be, directed toward how we take an accidental interview that I decided to post on this blog, and turn that into a healthy, productive discussion about what it means for each of us who claim to be Christian, but really aren’t following Christ. I don’t think your views and mine on some key things you mention are askew. In fact, we’d probably be able to have quite a nice cup of coffee together. Not even decaf, too. 🙂
They will know us better by our ACTIONS. Also, all these urgent commands to pray for Trump but not other of our leaders. And no chastisements for those who disparage Ms. Clinton’s faith and what she has said about her Walk of Faith and Service.
Linda Smith God does not shake the whole tree at us at once…it’s one at a time that we can win the victory over… God will convict him when he would be ready to deal with it… We need to pray and pray… pray God will put the people in his life to help him grow… Pray God will reveal His WORD and His way to him… to give him an insascational desire for HIS WORD.
Only God knows Donald J Trump’s heart. Mr. Trump’s desire to obtain the highest office in the country and what others think of him seems more important to him than his "baby steps" journey with God. The conservatives and the GOP are finding any excuse they can to make Mr. Trump’s nomination and Presidency palatable to themselves and to the country. Neither candidate is ideal and voting for the "lesser of the two evils" is not and should not be option this cycle.
A slave can not serve two masters. Which is Trump serving or Dobson for that matter, the Almighty or mammon?
Agreed! Very interesting that the pastor who allegedly led him on his conversion is a proponent of the "Prosperity Gospel" movement. I wonder if she shared the story of what Christ told the rich young ruler who wanted to "follow" him. The camel through the eye of the needle parable?
The "prosperity gospel" is no gospel at all. It’s bad news, not good news, and flies in the face of everything Jesus stood for.
"Do I know that for sure? No. Do I know the details of that alleged conversion? I can’t say that I do."
That is a quote from a follow up comment by Dobson that appeared on Charisma magazine’s site. Here’s the link: http://www.charismanews.com/politics/elections/58066-after-donald-trump-s-salvation-dr-james-dobson-reminds-how-to-deal-with-baby-christians
Twitter and FB are afire with comments and accusations that Dobson is "walking back" his statement made to Pastor Mike.
What a mess.
As a veteran news journalist and a Christian, all I can say, Pastor Mike, is, "Welcome to my world."
t think if all of this ends up being about Donald Trump or Dr. Dobson, we’ll have missed the bigger, much more important issue. Check out this brand new interview from The Daily Wire that helps all of us focus on the real issue: http://www.dailywire.com/news/7042/exclusive-qa-pastor-michael-anthony-aaron-bandler
As a born again Christian (a sinner saved by Jesus’ death on the cross,) I am overjoyed to hear that Donald Trump may have recently asked Christ to be his Savior!! (Yay God!) I have been praying for Trump to become saved since he declared his Presidential candidacy, as many other Americans have also been (I am sure.) Now, if Trump becomes our next President, God can whisper words of wisdom to Mr. Trump’s heart and, therefore, guide him and our country! Fantastic! I appreciate a wise moderator…Michael Anthony. I enjoy reading the comments of other Americans about current events, especially if they are literate, kind and wise. I have been wishing for a commentary where people can share thoughts, but where a moderator can eliminate certain offensive words, or ask some people to not return to that column. Thanks, Mr. Anthony! Sandra
here we go again, whenever a rich man accepts Christ everyone comes out with the "OMG, he’s rich, he can’t possibly go to heaven" Well, let’s see what Jesus had to say about this matter and put it in the context of ‘what would you do’ in this situation. OK, you are going about your business, and you see this very injured man on the side of the road, he’s really mashed up, people are passing him in droves, really, really religious people too! You’re thinking, huh, they’re religious I know they are, I see them filing into the Baptist church every Sunday, why are they passing this poor soul up? So, you approach him with a bottle of water in hand, and some paper towels, and see that this poor man really is in bad shape! You offer water, call 911 to get an ambulance out there, you pour water all over the paper towels, and try to clean him up a little before the EMT’s get there, you get into the ambulance with him, make sure he’s admitted properly to the emergency ward at the hospital, you ask him what insurance he has, he says, "gosh, I’m so sorry I have nothing, no money, no insurance, in fact I’m homeless" to which you reply: (well here comes the kicker, people, what DO you do then?, well, Jesus made it clear what we were to do!) "Hey, no problem, I’ll just have the bill sent to my address, and when I come back through here, if there’s anything you need, I will see to it that you get it" so you arrange for his care, and bid him goodbye and tell the nurses, dr’s and hospitals your cell # in case he needs anything. You come back through, he is well enough to go to an apartment, so you rent one for him, paying in advance for his lodging, you hire a nurse to watch over him, and tell him that you will do anything to help him get back on his feet when he is well, such as help with finding employment etc. OK, how’s the sermon going so far? do you not know that Mr. Trump has helped people (so many people) anonymously. He is doing what Jesus said to do. What about yourselves? Could you manage to help a person to this degree? Are YOU doing anything for the poor? Have you adopted a 3rd world child in need? Have you donated to relief anywhere there has been loss and tragedy? Do you not know that a poor person cannot help another poor person. A poor person never hired anyone, a poor person has to look the other way when someone is needing help (someone else will help, you rationalize) Jesus used the parable of "The Good Samaritan" to illustrate what we are to do in those situations.
Wow Eleanor. You really missed the point. It is not money, it is the love of money that Christ was talking about. He was surrounded by successful people and many of the founders of the Church were considered wealthy. (Besides, those who value money do not value what you think of them one way or another.)
Let’s not miss the point. We should rejoice that a new member may have joined the Body of Christ. Again, we have the opportunity to minister the grace and mercy of the gospel of Jesus Christ through social media. Jesus saves wretched sinners like myself through his precious blood shed on the cross. Really, this has nothing to do with Mr. Trump’s run for the presidency. It’s his eternal life that’s at stake. Whether Mr. Trump has been born again is really between him and Jesus Christ. In actuality, we should be praying for both candidates salvation regardless of whether one or the other wins the presidency. As Christians, I believe we have a moral responsibility to vote. Being 58 years old, I’ve had to vote for the lesser of two less than perfect candidates. My confidence has been in God’s Word. Proverbs 21:1, "The king’s heart is in the hand LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will." If we trust in our Heavenly Father, his word and that he is in complete control, we can vote our conscience.
"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
–Jesus (Mark 10:25, NKJV)
No person I’ve ever witnessed has bragged so much and so shamelessly about how rich he is than Donald Trump. His behavior has long been telling us that he has absolutely no interest in the kingdom of God. Don’t be so deaf. When someone spends every waking moment flouting nearly every Christian teaching, from humility to honesty to forgiveness, get a clue.
Call me skeptical, but I’d bet that James Dobson didn’t speak with Trump in a search for the facts so much as he might have tried to coach Trump on how to appear more Christian in public and seem less offensive to the Evangelical community. Politics does indeed make strange bedfellows.
If this is true, I am delighted. The Bible warns about putting new converts in position of authority, however, so we need to be cautious. (Of course, Hillary Clinton is a much worse candidate by far). I believe we need to be in prayer for our country and the leaders we elect. This is a good time to be on our knees.
But Ms. Clinton is a long-time convert and she has been in positions of authority and has acted responsibly.
Mrs. Clinton is a long-time professor of being a Christian. Whether or not she is a real Christian is something that God alone knows. I have deep concerns about her political actions, which have forayed into the realm of theology – which someone who knows their Bible and knows Christ would not do. One such theological belief is her view on taking the life of an unborn child, which is commonly called "abortion." She is a huge advocate. The Bible does speak with exceptional clarity about when life begins – "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart" (Jeremiah 1:5). Whether it is Mr. Trump or Mrs. Clinton, we must all remember that a long-time profession of being a Christian does not mean someone is a real Christian. Being a real Christian means following the teachings of Jesus, which is to follow Christ. If someone is against something as fundamental and basic as the sanctity of life, they are either ignorant of the teachings of Christ on the matter, or are not following the Christ they are professing. Making decisions against the teachings of Christ while in a position of authority is not to act responsibly at all. It is to act with the utmost irresponsibility.
I think the Bible is referring to positions of authority in the church not political positions.
Thank you for sharing your view. Since there is no exclusion clause found anywhere, I don’t believe that is a proper or biblical conclusion to embrace. If the Bible teaches anything, it teaches that there is no area and no position that is excluded from the agenda of God. Part of being "salt" and "light" involves the clear and intentional imagery of saturation. If the Gospel does not saturate something, it’s a clear indication that that thing is not honoring God the way it otherwise would. Salt and light saturate and permeate. That is precisely the point.
regarding Mrs. Clinton’s faith and service, she has made some notable comments in the last year or so that should be of concern to every Christian, such as on April 23, 2015, she is quoted as saying: "Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated religious beliefs have to be changed." She also told Planned Parenthood that she has their back! It is getting to be a crime to follow moral teaching and if you are concerned about your 1st amendment right to free speech and freedom of religion, then please think it over before you vote. Pretty soon (and sooner than you think) our freedoms will be gone, not in danger of being gone, but gone! Mr. Trump has promised to put conservative judges on the benches of our courts. We will lose more battles if Mrs Clinton is put into office. A sweet innocent child brings her or his bible to school and the authorities sweep in and act like he/she has brought a gun to school! More and more, other religions are being promoted in our schools and accomodated (such as prayer times, prayer rugs etc.) but our children can’t bring a bible to school. Wake-up people before it’s too late. We sit out elections because the candidate is not perfect. That is stupid to the max!
So you’re letting Donald Trump tell you that pastors aren’t using their freedom of religion?
Because they’re "not talking about the issues?"
Wow.
So I guess that quaint old Bible idea of "proclaiming Christ and him crucified" doesn’t count as exercising freedom of religion.
If God could speak through a donkey (Numbers 22) – and he did, then He can certainly speak through an elephant. There is precedent for listening for the messenge regardless of the messenger. I suggest you get into the habit of doing the same. It took an elephant to say what we Christian leaders should have understood all along. That is the real "wow," my friend.
Preachers today aren’t preaching the Message of the Cross (1st Corinthians 1:18). They have left the Apostle Paul and gone to visit the psychologist, having become nothing but Motivational Speakers, preaching Make Me Feel Good All The Way To Hell Sermons. Psychology is the devils bible. Psychology is man trying to solve mans problem. Psychology/Prosperity preaching is not of God (Titus 3:9-10) (Colossians 2:8). ANYTIME you put your Faith in anything other than what Jesus accomplished at Calvary, you’re saying that what He laid down His life for was not enough, and you open the door for demon spirits. (2nd Timothy 4:3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears. TODAY, THERE ARE MORE PIMPS BEHIND THE PULPIT THAN THERE ARE IN THE STREETS!!! Demon Spirits are leading this nation (Spiritual Warfare). Our leaders and president are spitting in the Face of the Lord Jesus Christ. Everything they are doing is out of a hatred for Jesus Christ and the blame falls at the foot of the church as Judgment begins at the church (1st Peter 4:17). Today’s preachers are no longer preaching on the bondage and consequences of sin, AFRAID to stand for righteousness and bringing the ways of the world into the church. Jesus said, "Go into the world and preach the gospel," not act like the world to preach it. The world is in the condition it is in because the church is in the condition it is in. Today’s churches are in the WORSE SPIRITUAL CONDITION than the Reformation. The church has strayed so far away from biblical truth and foundation that it no longer believes in the Rapture, no longer preaches on the Second Coming of Christ Jesus, and rarely speak of Christ and Christ Crucified, if they speak of Him at all. A lot of churches, Jesus is the last person on their mind, as its all about self. A lot of people go to church just to ease their conscience, and they’re not Saved they’re just RELIGIOUS. God hates religion (Amos 5:21). Religion just says, "I can approach God my own way, which is a lie. The Shed Blood is the only way to Eternal Life. The only way to the Father is through the Son, and the ONLY way to the Son is through the Shed Blood at Calvary. Christianity is not a religion, its a relationship with Jesus Christ, neither is Pentecost a religion, its a MOVEMENT, the Movement of the HOLY SPIRIT (Acts 2:2-4). Going to church will not save anyone. America is sleepwalking while facing the greatest danger ever, the danger of Islam. Islam did not fight on the Front Lines for the Freedom of America. They hate the American Flag, but love America’s benefits. Anyone who claims to be a Christian and votes for anyone that condones Same Sex Marriage and Abortion, is putting their Seal Of Approval on Murder and entering into the candidates SIN. We are facing END TIME EVENTS that are in the bible that NO MAN can solve, because its happening in the Spirit Realm. How can a person say they don’t believe the bible when everything that is in the bible has happened, it is happening and it is going to happen!!! God is not a Man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19). The Spirit of the ANTI CHRIST is PREVALENT in America today (2nd Thessalonians 2:9-10). AMERICA IS BEGGING FOR JUDGMENT!!!
I think people need to understand one thing. God is the Judge! The Holy Spirit is real and anyone can truely be saved if they come to God with a sincere heart and ask Jesus to save them. I think many people who can’t rejoice when someone calls out to God to be saved needs to check them own birthcertificate. We need to pray that the Holy Spirit will guide and help Mr. Trump to grow in God’s grace. His salvation is more important than even winning the election. Rejoice with them that rejoice.
Susan I really can’t believe what you just said!!! What you just said is the most BEAUTIFUL statement that I’ve ever ever ever heard anyone Saved or Unsaved mention, ever since this run for President has started. Your comment must be shared as it is an EYE OPENER especially for Christians.
I notice that Dr. Dobson asks us to pray for Donald Trump but did not say pray for Hilary Clinton.
I also notice that no matter who the republicans put up for office in any office the Religious leaders tell us we must vote for them. The reason they give is because the Democrats are for abortion. This false. The Democrats are not for abortion they favor Sex education to prevent education. The Republicans oppose it. The Democrats are for birth control to prevent abortions. The Republicans oppose it. The Democrats are in favor of child care when a woman has a child but again the Republicans vote against it.
Abortion became legal under pres. Nixon in 1972 not under the Democrats. The Democrats say that a women in crises should have some say in what she should do regarding an abortion with her doctor and minister. The Republican platform says there an be no exceptions in case of rape or incest the woman must have the child of the criminal. The Republicans say they want small government but when there is a fire or a flood they want the government to rescue and pay the money to help them. The Republicans want to change both social security and Medicare making them a voucher system so the big business can charge what ever price they want. I pray people begin to pray and think for themselves and not let their rich Christian leaders tell them how to vote.
No one can say or judge if Trump has accepted Jesus as his Savior. That is between God and him and NO ONE else.
The democrats are for Sex education? Then they are promoting FORNICATION, God says marriage before sex (1st Corinthians 7:8-9) (Hebrews 13:4) (Exodus 22:16). He is not saying pray for Hillary as she did not say she is giving her life to Christ and I’m more than sure he is a Christian and prays for her anyway as we are to pray for our leaders. Democrats say that a woman in a crisis should have an abortion with her doctor and minster? Over 68 million babies have been aborted, so all 68 million were a crisis? Women say it’s their choice to abort (kill) a baby? They should make the choice before the baby is conceived not after. If Trump has publicly or in private accepted Jesus, God has accepted him. And his name is NOW written in the Lambs Book of Life. God knows his heart. Democrats are in favor of child care? Then why was the Bill to Defund Planned Parenthood vetoed? But in the end, there is Another Court and Another Judge in Whom ONE DAY ALL will give account. Keep thinking God is not for real. Life is a Dress Rehearsal for ETERNITY. Heaven and hell are REALPLACES. And BOTH are ETERNAL. And BOTH are PREPARED PLACES for PREPARED PEOPLE. Which one are you preparing for? You can ANSWER now at the Cross (repent) and be forever Saved, or ANSWER at the Great White Throne of Judgment. But ANSWER you will.
Dear Janet Fenwick:
Mr. Dobson apparently made that judgment. Have you a problem with that? If Mr. Trump is a believer, he will soon be joining a Christian church. Wouldn’t this require an ecclesial court to decide whether his profession of faith in Jesus Christ is credible? Where did you study ecclesial polity? On what church councils have you sat? On the basis of exactly what premise do you rule by fiat that ‘no one can say or judge if Trump has accepted Jesus as his Savior.’ Personally, I’m prepared to question Mr. Dobson’s state of grace. But then, I deem the confessing North American church, including Evangelical and Fundamentalist factions, largely to be in a state of apostasy. In addition to other Scriptures, I base that on the Revelation of Jesus Christ. As I see it, US projection of military power to control the resources of the nations of the world and supported by the religious establishment imitate the very relations Saint John describes between the beast, the whore and the false prophet. Conveniently, we project the theology of the Revelation into the future so that we will not HAVE to risk death for Jesus’ sake by exposing our earthly system of socio-economic/political power for the lie that it is.
Blessings!
He should be joining the church, but how many people are true Christians that take a long time to join? Pastor Michael Anthony is right in having us pray for Donald Trump. We must pray for his anointing for whatever is God’s purpose for him, pray for a continually softening heart, for repentance, and for our knowledge from the Holy Spirit to vote for him or not. Even Carson’s endorsement on him makes me wonder. But don’t stop praying. And don’t forget to start.
When a person gets saved, God does not take away the personality He gave us. He begins to teach us how to use that personality in such a way the He will get the glory and for the good of others. If that be as president or a homemaker, our deep seated personalities will remain the same.
You all hate minorities. The only reason you want Trump is so the white race to maintain control. Shame on all of you hyprocrites. REPENT before it’s too late !!!
Joe, I usually don’t respond to these kinds of comments, but I think I need to, here. I would imagine that you feel that there is a lot of racism occurring in America. I agree, and it is absolutely inexcusable. This is why we all need to repent, and not exacerbate the situation by resorting to name-calling, which is never helpful. We have enough folks saying negative things through emails and online forums. We don’t need that happening here. Let’s not accuse other people, most likely folks we have never met, of something as terrible as racism. Doing so does nothing constructive in the dialogue.
I grew up listening to James Dobson, and always had respect for the man’s judgement. However, his recent statements regarding Donald Trump bewilder me. I don’t care that Donald Trump didn’t know that for the books of the bible, we refer to them as "First and Second", not "One and Two". That’s just religious culture, a mistake and immaterial to any real discussion of another’s faith or character. However, (and correct me if I’m wrong), a person who has never asked God for forgiveness, cannot be considered a Christian. This is what Donald Trump has claimed. This is not a "baby Christian" mistake. This is either someone who is unrepentant, or does not recognize the human condition as presented in the Gospels. A person cannot even be a "baby Christian" without recognizing that they have sin, and repenting of that sin, and surrendering that to Jesus. Also remember that faith without works is dead. According to James 2:14-26, believing in God makes a person no more a Christian, than the atheist, or "the demons". At least the demons show humility. According to John 13:35 you can recognize a Christian for their love for others. Saying "I love you guys", is not love. Love without works is equally dead. James Dobson’s suggestion that Christians should vote for Trump even if "he isn’t a better candidate", is completely absurd. Don’t turn a blind eye merely because of party loyalty. This candidate does not, through word or action, support Christian ideals.
Well said, Stephen, and I share your caution about Mr. Trump. For me, personally, the issue in regard to Trump’s possible "conversion" lies in the timing. A key word in Dobson’s statement is that it happened "recently." I am in no way defending Dr. Dobson’s claim that Trump’s conversion was genuine, or that it even occurred. However, IF it did happen – and if it was "recent," the timing could explain his "one and two" Corinthians comment, for instance. That comment could have preceded his alleged conversion. The timing of the alleged conversion can be an explanatory factor. I cannot emphasize strongly enough that I am not trying to defend Mr. Trump’s possible conversion – but I cannot, in all fairness and objectivity, knowing how far I fall short, cast stones. I do have to say that Mrs. Clinton likewise leaves a great deal to be desired in regard to "humility." I think we’d all have to agree that each candidate simply demonstrates different forms of pride. Just this past Sunday, Mrs. Clinton seemed to have lied yet again when saying FBI Director Comey found that she "hadn’t lied." The video recordings of Comey’s remarks clearly have him on record saying she did not tell the truth. When someone continually lies, they have an issue with pride. As for me, I have to remain as objective as possible, pray for Mr. Trump (and Hillary) and pray for this nation. We are at a dark hour, and both candidates need fervent prayer. And, I think we are long past the point of trying to elect a candidate who embraces our values. I think the only thing we can do is elect a candidate who will best enable us to live the values we embrace. Sad day for sure, but I think this is our new reality, at least for this election. Thanks for chiming in.
I am appalled that Dr. Dobson is joining the terrible fray of divisiveness. Both Mr. Trump and Secretary Hillary deserve equal love and prayer. But, with that said, how can any Christian with the prominence and stature of Dr. Dobson add his voice to a man that has proven over and over that he IS NOT a Christian. We shall be known by the fruits of the Spirit. Mr. Trump openly goes against every Christian principle. Have you not been to one of his rallies. He gets people all riled up and they spew out hateful words towards every creed and color that doesn’t look like them. This kind of hate is unacceptable to followers of Christ. I’m sorry, Dr. Dobson but you are incorrect and wrong to add to the public fray as to why Mr. Trump would make a good president. Does he need to repent and seek Christ and His Kingdom? Yes, but please pray for all sinners and DO NOT excuse all the sinful things this man is doing and we do not stand up against it. If history is any indication–the Church and it’s prominent leaders often fail to recognize when they need to stand up and defend the voiceless, the powerless, the stranger, the immigrant. I will pray for Dr. Dobson that God would open up his eyes and heart as to what is really happening here. You are not a Pope and your willingness to support and absolve a man like Mr. Trump is not only heart-wrenching by very dangerous. God help us all. Have we no moral backbone anymore. Peace be with you.
What about Trump’s current positions on abortion and moral issues? He said he is pro-life with three exceptions: the health of the mother, rape, and incest. If he is pro life, there are no exceptions. Who is advising him to repent and change this position? Also, is he going to continue supporting transgenderism and same sex "marriage"? When is he going to start leaving his gift at the alter and be reconciled with his brother? Will he apologize for spreading the propaganda against Cruz? Will he apologize for the way he mocked and discredited Carson? Will he address his comment that he does not need forgiveness? There are many things that Trump needs to correct in the public forum because there are many public statements that he has made that are against a biblical worldview. I would hope that the many Christian advisors around Trump are pressuring him to do these things. And, Copeland should not be included in the list of his advisors, nor should any who espouse a false gospel.
I think you’ve raised reasonable questions and concerns. I agree with you about there being no exceptions if one is truly "pro-life." The problem we have in this election is that no presidential candidate with the potential of winning the election is absolutely pro-life. So, we have a choice to make within the spectrum we’ve been given.
As for his relationship with Sen. Cruz, I don’t know what steps Mr. Trump has taken to reconcile. I also don’t know what steps Sen. Cruz has taken. I am aware that Sen. Cruz did and said some things that were completely contrary to Christian behavior, but we have not heard him repent, either. It saddens me, because Cruz also claims to be a Christian.
Like you, I hope Mr. Trump’s Christian advisors are helping him see the light of Scripture, so he can repent and mature. I share an equal degree of concern for Sec. Clinton, who also professes to be a Christian. Yet there are many things she has done and said, without apology, that betray truly following Christ.
The problem in America is that anyone can profess to follow Christ, but in the end, not really follow Him. That doesn’t make it right at all. If you haven’t yet read my piece on "Transgender Christians," I’d like to recommend it. You can find it here: http://townhall.com/columnists/michaelanthony/2016/07/14/americas-transchristian-problem-n2192753.
HE WHO JUSTIFIES THE WICKED "AND " CONDEMNS THE RIGHTEOUS "BOTH " ARE AN ABOMINATION TO THE LORD !!!!
Proverbs 17:15
He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous, Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD
THERE is a split in the Body of Christ brought about ,by this election ,The Lord told me before the election the Government and Church were connected ,I did’nt know what that meant at the time !!
you notice it is written ,that Judgement begins with the House of God ,(Not with sinners ) but with (Gods People ) God gave us a "Godly man " In Senator Cruz ,he was not a perfect man " but a man who fears GOD , THIS IS THE DIVISION !! That a Godly Man was slandered and his family ,and supporters were evil spoken of and threatened.. HE WHO JUSTIFIES THE WICKED "AND " CONDEMNS THE RIGHTEOUS "BOTH " ARE AN ABOMINATION TO THE LORD !!!!
Proverbs 17:15
He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous, Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.
The Word speaks a lot about Bribes Blinding the eyes and perverting the words , (Now this is not talking to sinners ) But it is in our Manual "the Word of God " Could it be they have taken a Bribe from the Government ,By taking the Tax exempt ?? Money is the god of this World ,and the Root of all evil …The Church was to be a guideline for Government …We Have been praying 2 Chronicles 7:14 for years ,God gives the answer in Ted Cruz ,the church rejected Gods answer ,for the god of this Worlds answer , The Riches of this World , None of which you can take to Heaven, Don’t lay up for yourselves Treasures in Heaven . The BODY OF CHRIST NEEDS TO REPENT OR FACE JUDGEMENT …the only way to escape is through Christ " If We Love the World and the things of the World ,the Love of the Father is not in us.We cannot Serve God and Mammon (god of this World ) God Bless, Lord Open Their Eyes !!!
Yes, we all need to repent. Check out RevivalMatters.com and spread the word.
Senator Ted Cruz forgave Donald Trump . But I have seen post of the Ted Cruz Supporters ,They are deeply hurt and confused ,not willing to vote for Donald Trump .so I posted this message ,that was on my heart ,To a Nation who wants Gods Blessing ,To Christian Leaders ,of a Divided Body … 2 Chronicles 7:14 is not just a prayer to be prayed ,When Holy Spirit moves Actions are taken …
Senator Cruz was exhibiting the act of Forgiveness , But we saw no Fruit of Repentance From Donald Trump ,He not only sinned against Senator Cruz and his Family ,He also sinned against The Cruz Delegates ,Being threatened and Bullied ,Donald Trump says he is a Christian YET HE DID NOT BRING FORTH FRUIT MEET FOR REPENTANCE ,We are still suffering from Trump supporters Trump style Bullying Matthew 3:8
“Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:” Donald Trumps sin WAS "PUBLIC" was "TOWARD A Family TOWARD A Body of Delegates Toward a HOST of OTHER PEOPLE ,I heard on the News this Morning Reporters still saying "Lying Ted " We are faced Daily With the FallOut of his SIN ,HIS Taunting "WORDS" From His Supporter’s Still Wounding over and over again ,Reporters still Wounding ,These Words Originated WITH DONALD TRUMP ,now were he a sinner ,we could over look ,BUT SCIENCE HE HAS PROFESSED, HE HAS ACCEPTED CHRIST ,IT HAS NOT BEEN ABOUT SENATOR CRUZ ,for us IT HAS BEEN ABOUT GOD !!
and the fallout of wounded people ,Donald Trump as a "Christian" is Not PERMITTED to enjoy the fruit of his SIN. Of course it is always possible that the victim’s of the abuse might “forgive” the debt (AS Senator Cruz did )(Mt. 18:27), but the sinner must never take that for granted. One must never reason, “Because I cannot repair all my sins, I will make no attempt to remedy any of them.”He DID IT PUBLICLY ,HE CAN ASK THE PEOPLE HE HAS SLANDERED and BULLIED ,PUBLICLY )FOR FORGIVENESS, HOW CAN A BODY OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN PUBLICALLY BULLIED SUPPORT THIS PROFESSED LEADER ,THEY ARE BLINDED BY HIS TREATMENT OF THEM !!! WE ARE LOOKING FOR FRUIT ,FROM THE EVANGELICAL LEADERS WHO HAVE PROCLAIMED TO US ,HE IS A CHRISTIAN ,BY THEM WE FEEL DECEIVED ,YOU CANNOT TELL US DAY AFTER DAY TO VOTE FOR SOMEONE UNDER THESE CONDITIONS , AND EXPECT GOD TO BLESS THE WORKS OF YOUR HAND,BECAUSE HIS CHILDREN ARE TELLING ON YOU ….
This is the reason why leaders of the church should step away from politics. ARE YOU PRAYING FOR ALL THOSE WHO ARE LOST? Where is the humility, love, and truth? There’s a reason why the founding fathers established the separation of church and state. Regardless of who becomes president, we must depend on God sovereign power. Christians are suppose to be the light. The best way to show our commitment is to pray for BOTH candidates. Not just one individual, party, one group of people, one particular state, church, family etc. , but everyone. No one has a monopoly on God! Praying for everyone is what is important. Isn’t that what we are commissioned to do as Christians? I see more hate and division and not LOVE. We wonder why our young people are not believers, it’s the shenanigans of giving one person a "get out of hell" card, and not the other.
"There’s a reason why the founding fathers established the separation of church and state." This is not true. They never did that, but revisionists want us to believe that. The statement "separation of church from state" is nowhere in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence – or in any other law of the United States. It was something Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter to friends – to keep the government out of the affairs of the church, not the other way around. Your understanding is common among so many bc the revisionist folks have done a good job distorting history. That being said, we are indeed praying for everyone, and putting out a call for everyone to repent and pray. If you look over our resources and listen to the messages, this will be clear. Thanks for sharing and we hope this helps.
The ones I hold accountable ,is not Donald Trump ,It is James Dobson and those Leaders who "Said " he was born again ,Which makes a Lot of Difference… Because if he is ,He needs to bring forth fruit …Matthew 3:8
“Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:” GOD will reveal it !!! I have been praying about ..Because I detected a Change in the Spiritual atmosphere , I experienced Hope , Senator Cruz has a Lot of Christian Leaders and Teds Own Church ,are all behind this in Prayer !! and Who are also praying for Trump ,and have our Country in their best interest, I know change can only come, when Gods Grace moves on the Heart of People, I am seeking God For my Answer, That is why I’ll be watching the Debates tonight .Hoping God will speak to us tonight !!! I know I cannot Trust or Vote for Trump ,Scriptures tell us that !!! But I believe Holy Spirit ,revealed to me .If Trump is a Baby Christian ,And it does’nt matter how EVIL his life has been , All of that evil is under the Blood ,and it is as tho ,He has never done it …So I am asking God to give us Fruit of his Repentance ,If He is saved,With us praying for him,Gods grace will reveal it …Then I can vote for Trump ,Trusting God to work through him as I continue to lift him ,up in Prayer ….God Bless everyone ,I know your struggle
I’m not American, if I were I would vote for Trump.
Not because he is good or born again, but simply because I sense he’s the chosen one at this moment. He may not be a good person on many people’s book, but God still chooses him just like Nebuchadnezzar.
THIS WAS A FAMILY REUNION and they decide that is the latest strategy that he can used and saved, after all the mess with this recording is the only one who can save him, we going to rest from their follies for a while. SMART THE NARCISSIST
?
Why don’t you ask us to pray for former Senator Hilary Clinton? Kenneth Copeland said she Hilary is a born again Christian. She was raised in the Church by a single Mother. I think she is more likely to much more mature in Christ than Donal Trump. Don Bennett
Good question, Don. Thank you for asking. I have done that elsewhere in my blog and in my op-Eds, which you can read in our "In The News" section. This particular blog is about Donald Trump, so my comments were directed toward him and the news of his alleged new conversion at that time. Thanks again for your question!
Under President Obama their have been fewer abortions than any other year going back to 1972,
One reason is because He has helped create more jobs and people are not so squeezed financially. Also he supports sex education which helps kids know how to avoid getting pregnant. He also supports child care for new mothers something the Republicans always vote against to save money. I have worked in the inner city for over 30 years . No girl or woman wants to have an abortion. They only resort to such a measure when they have no husband , no money and no one to help them and no prospects for ever getting out of poverty with another or first child. Another law prohibiting abortions will not solve
these problems and not help reduce abortions.
Don, with all due respect, Hillary Clinton is in favor of rescinding the Hyde Amendment, which, if successfully rescinded, would result in 1,000,000 more abortions in America. I’m sorry, but abortion is indeed a sin because it is murder. Partial birth abortion takes place when, as the newborn is coming into the world, the doctor kills it. There are a variety of ways to do it, but "partial birth abortion" is a politically correct term for murder and Hillary is all for it. The "sex education" coming from planned parenthood is an abomination, and I’m not going to even go there here. Rarely do I get so incensed about things, but murdering innocent children by the millions is a massive, deplorable sin. It’s not true that "no girl or woman wants to have an abortion." Abstinence still has a 100% track record – but Planned Parenthood, funded by the U.S. Government, and supported 110% and then some by Hillary Clinton, won’t allow it to be taught. It’s out of control, and you can expect more mass murder if Ms. Clinton is elected. The issue of millions of children murdered each year is enough to say NO to electing Ms. Clinton, who is pro murder. We can dance around the issue all we want, but this is the cold, hard truth. Partial birth abortion, and all abortion, is an abomination to Almighty God – and whoever allows it and supports it places him or herself at odds with the Creator, who gave and gives LIFE.
Don Bennett , … Seriously !!!!!!! ………Hillary endorses abortion , I can stop with that alone , and say , she has a lot of explaining , as to why she’s killing Gods creation … she does NOT serve the same God Christians serve . …so until she repents , and turns from her wicked ways , the Judgement of God falls on her life , her days are numbered ….. let’s not use Born Again , and Hillary , in the same sentence , for right now it doesn’t exist!!!!!!
Give God time to work and change hid heart thetr nothing imposible fo God
Two points. The points made by Michael about Trump for repentance can also be said about Clinton. Second, if they are true, then electing him to a position with near absolute power could absolutely destroy his faith. And, are we so gullible to believe that Trump would unite us when a great chasm has been created since he started his campaign?
Correct. This is why Mike put this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCajtFUBdZk
When you say why don’t we ask to pray for Hillary….well we need to pray for everything and someone said Hillary is a born again Christian?….how can you say this when she supports abortion….don’t say I’m judging because I’m not….it states clearly in the bible that I will be able to tell a tree by the fruit it bears and I see no good fruit that she is bearing
I said that because I am being objective, realizing that if God saved Saul and turned him into the Apostle Paul, He can do anything. We can tell a tree by its fruit, and in my opinion, there is a great deal that needs to change in both candidates, in different ways. Each, in my opinion, is not at this time, in any way, an example of a mature Christ-follower. I could never say to anyone, "follow Hillary as she follows Christ," because she doesn’t, and abortion is simply one example of how what she does and promotes flies in the face of biblical teaching. Mr. Trump has his own set of problems, likewise, and is not an example of a mature follower, either. My role, as the one who broke the story, was to be objective. I was, and am.
Are we rejecting Hillary as president just because she believes in abortion? So the same God that saved and has the power to deliver Donald Trump, can’t He do the same for Hillary and change her heart as a believer. We are all in the process of being saved. Whether Donald Trump accepted Christ or not, He doesn’t not possess the qualifications, character, charisma, temperament to run the country.
His mouth is a wrecking ball, he’s condescending, opening prejudice and racist, and not let’s forget the epitome of arrogant. God help us; America this is one choice I believe we will pay years , terrible choice. I will not get into the fact that many people, especially men don’t believe a woman should be in the office. The most chauvinistic views are from christian men. Our forefathers, and slave owners confessed christianity, but there was no fruit. I haven’t heard Donald Trump confess Jesus Christ as Lord, that’s the best kept secret by someone who has no filter on his mouth!!!!
Not at all. If you check what I have stated in the media, and written, you will see that I have consistently said that both candidates were flawed fundamentally, and needed repentance and transformation. Mr. Trump has demonstrated a "wrecking ball" of a mouth, as well as a seeming heart attitude behind it. Likewise, Mrs. Clinton has demonstrated a "wrecking ball" approach to justice, honesty and the rule of law. You are absolutely right about the terrible chauvinistic attitudes held by many men. It’s wrong. Some (not all) of our forefathers were indeed slave owners – but if a person’s failure in one part of life disqualifies them from leadership, then we are all, as recovering hypocrites and sinners, disqualified. God has always and only had imperfect people through whom to work, except for Jesus Christ. And, if we are going to be objective, we haven’t heard Mrs. Clinton confess Christ as Savior either. Both Mr. Trump and Mrs. Clinton have demonstrated major areas of character that dishonor Jesus Christ, and are in need of HIs transforming power. I encourage you to make this one of your prayer requests, because bother are loved by God.
Instead of Christians attempting to hurriedly convert Mr. Trump to fit their mold why didn’t they call for a boycott of the political system or stand behind a true Christian! They should have rejected both nominees presented by their political affiliations. They show their lack of faith by rallying around the one most popular in their party affiliation and demonize the one they oppose. If Christians believe that God is all powerful then they should choose a Christian candidate who embraces their belief and ask God to empower their candidate to win and thereby allowing the Christian principles to reign. Instead they rally behind a godless candidate and ask God the justify their actions. Christians on both sides of the aisle only shows God in a bad light and make Him seems weak to everyone. Very poor representation, when are they going to wake up and recognize that God is Almighty and all powerful and don’t need their misrepresentation.
Very well said! If we keep doing what we’ve been doing, we’ll keep getting what we’ve been getting. Insanity, isn’t it?
With the campaigns "wrapped" and the election over, all that has taken place over the past 18 months is now water under the bridge. Mr Trump did not earn my vote this time around (neither of the major candidates did) but I hope and pray he is so successful that he earns my vote next time. I also hope and pray we see the fruit of the spirit confirming he is in fact an authentic believer. In truth, only time will tell. May God bless and reach the hearts of the individuals about to step into the role of leading the nation and perhaps most importantly, her citizens.
Beautifully, tactfully, diplomatically said. Thank you so much, Rick! Others can learn from your great example.
I believe that Mr. Trump has indeed trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. It has now been six months since Dr. Dobson made his comments as to Mr. Trumps conversion. For any one who was paying attention to say that they have not yet seen real tangible changes in Mr Trumps life i say this, they are blind. The changes that have been occurring are so apparent that they are extremely encouraging and should be for all true born again believers. I noticed the biggest changes right after the Republican convention and then Satan had his day with bringing up Mr Trumps past lifestyle before the Nation with the intent of really trying to knock Mr Trump off his salvation decision, I am referring to the bus incident. God has raised Mr Trump up for a purpose, only God can do this, and we as believers should give Mr Trump and all the Trump family all the encouragement and support through our prayers and by voicing our support for them verbally whenever possible. The Church has been praying for a real genuine revival in our country the least we can do is to pray and support the Presidency and his cabinet, that God will indeed answer our prayers in due season!!!!!
I visited a lot of website but I think this one holds something extra in it in it
